Classic, definitely. Until the age of 7 this stuff probably consisted of about 50% of my diet. I haven't had any for years, though. The raspberry and strawberry variations you have pictured are surely dud, though.

Like eating syrup-sweet clouds--an oh so twee snack. Good to mix with all sorts of confectionery. Must be eaten out of the container.

Ashley Andel, Sunday, 24 November 2002 20:43 (twenty-three years ago)

that looks like pure evil.

Ed (dali), Sunday, 24 November 2002 20:46 (twenty-three years ago)

the regular kind is an essential ingredient for an Elvis special. (the others being peanut butter, bananas, white white bread, and butter)

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 24 November 2002 20:46 (twenty-three years ago)

THE STUFF!

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 24 November 2002 20:46 (twenty-three years ago)

there are two ways to look at it, i think: pillowy sugarspun-clouds of marshmallowy tweeness or a TASTE EXPLOSION OF MARSHMALLOW VIOLENCE with a viscosity designed by Satan himself

geeta (geeta), Sunday, 24 November 2002 20:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh god I want some NOW

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 24 November 2002 21:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Plan= dud
Raspberry or strawberry flavor= almost dud
w/peanut butter= Classic!!

brg30 (brg30), Sunday, 24 November 2002 21:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Is it different to candyfloss?

Graham (graham), Sunday, 24 November 2002 21:46 (twenty-three years ago)

candy floss? you mean cotton candy? naw, it's nothing like that. this is like glaringly bright white gooey sludge that comes in a big plastic tub...good god, man, they don't have marshmallow fluff in england?! how do you cope?!

geeta (geeta), Monday, 25 November 2002 01:15 (twenty-three years ago)

that looks and sounds horribly sweet and processed and like it should stay in America.

rainy (rainy), Monday, 25 November 2002 01:17 (twenty-three years ago)

yes rainy, in america everyone eats only marshmallow fluff, all the time. spread on twinkies. this accounts for our cheap, materialistic culture, and is also the reason why we all glow bright green.

geeta (geeta), Monday, 25 November 2002 01:22 (twenty-three years ago)

(nb: i've only eaten the stuff twice, but i find it strangely beautiful and intriguing.)

geeta (geeta), Monday, 25 November 2002 01:24 (twenty-three years ago)

sorry I just hate America because it steals my friends. Your food is probably better than any I have ever known.

rainy (rainy), Monday, 25 November 2002 01:28 (twenty-three years ago)

aww.

eat some marshmallow fluff! it is the glue that holds society togethah.

(it really does work as glue.)

geeta (geeta), Monday, 25 November 2002 01:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Ughhh...my sister went through a phase when she constantly made a type of fudge based on marshmallow fluff. I hated it yet kept eating.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 25 November 2002 01:36 (twenty-three years ago)

It's LIKE the STUFF so it must be CLASSIC!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 25 November 2002 03:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Geeta, your thread made me go buy some at the market--I have been dipping shortbread in it. I went to the kitchen to get some more a half-hour ago, only to discover that everyone in the house had eaten half of it, and are now planning to pick more of the stuff tomorrow!

Ashley Andel, Monday, 25 November 2002 05:38 (twenty-three years ago)

that makes me happy in my heart.

geeta (geeta), Monday, 25 November 2002 06:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Tell me....is it really true that Americans mix it with yams? It sounds inedible.

Miss Laura, Monday, 25 November 2002 08:41 (twenty-three years ago)

One traditional Thanksgiving dish is sweet potatoes/yams, topped with marshmallows. But as I've said elsewhere, based on my experience I don't find sweet potatoes or yams to be fit for human consumption.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 25 November 2002 13:24 (twenty-three years ago)

it looks like it would make me go loopy. i avoid it.

katie (katie), Monday, 25 November 2002 13:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh my goodness. I'm glad I don't live in America, because I think I'd have to subsist on this stuff. It sounds so amazingly disgusting and nice. Mmmmm feeeelthy pleasures. Oh, and the same goes for Reese's products.

five years pass...

coffee fluff!

Surmounter, Thursday, 10 July 2008 03:36 (seventeen years ago)

You can buy jars of fluff here in the kosher bit of my supermarket (which has lots of Hersheys and other US things). And one mixed with something in swirls. Jelly or PB?

Anyway it looks vile; sugar and me, we don't get along.

Trayce, Thursday, 10 July 2008 05:02 (seventeen years ago)

SUGAR is such a magical thing! :P

Surmounter, Thursday, 10 July 2008 14:11 (seventeen years ago)

It looks like the exact opposite of Marmite. If you made a marshmallow fluff and Marmite sandwich, no-one would eat it...
