The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring (Jackson, 2001)

I grew up a Tolkien kid, it absolutely blew me away when I saw it, the magic still works on me. I don't have much of a theoretical defense of it as a Great Film (though as a po faced epic I'd argue it's better than many a Lean), but you gotta be honest.

The Good The Bad & The Ugly

A number of films I respect and find interesting, none that I really love.
It's Solaris over Pierrot le fou and , although I Vitelloni and The Leopard probably hold together better as coherent works.

Matinee is super underrated, great to see it here

the maltese falcon ahead of once upon a time in the west ahead of rio bravo but this is a really good list

For me it’s between Singing in the Rain and Rio Bravo. I’ll probably vote Rio Bravo because I watched it more recently.

I thought I was the only person on here who loved Comfort and Joy, so that gets my vote.

The Naked Gun 2 1/2 would comfortably sit betwixt Satantango and Pickpocket on my list ftr.

Went with Once Upon a Time in the West because it was already first on this list.

Got my hopes up for a real anti-choice with Confessions...of a Congressman.

I’m not voting cos I haven’t seen enough to give an honest vote but Fellowship of the Ring is really good, best of the trilogy & also I have lots of recommendations based on the overlap in stuff we like

I've thought about Pickpocket most days since I saw it (hyperbole, but not by much), but I think I'll go to Penda's Fen.

Very tempted by Gremlins 2 as it is my perfect hangover film, but voting for Penda's Fen.
