Actually, I think that is how you spell it (but I ain't no Yiddish expert so maybe there is a *c* in there). It basically means dope or idiot, Lee.

I liked bnw's picture for schmuck on the Shatner thread because it's pretty illustrative of the way the word is used in Jewish culture. Literally, yeah it does mean dick and sometimes gets thrown around as a substitute for bastard, asshole, etc, but it also gets used a lot to refer to someone who's sort of a dorky, hapless, pitiable idiot. Like this:
