Republicans are very much a party of clean air, clean water. When you want to talk about global warming and such, that’s where you lose us. I’m much more appreciative of the climate change conversation if folks I’m talking to are willing to rank their issues. That’s a hard thing to do, and maybe a very cold way of thinking. But what’s the biggest issue, carbon in the atmosphere or plastic on the ground? Biodiversity?

What's interesting about the article is that almost everyone interviewed belongs to, and or works for, the Young Republicans. So the message of the piece is twofold:

1) Journalists are really lazy ("Lemme make one phone call and see if this political organization will arrange interviews with enough of its members that I can disguise this as a trend piece")

2) No one in New York will openly identify as a Republican unless their literal paycheck depends on it

Not really sure what being "pro-Bush" in that context means -- parroting things he heard his parents say about how things were better under the previous guy, who left office when he was five years old?
