If you don’t own a Casio watch go post elsewhere

Casio watches I've owned, in chronological (pun intended) order:

  • F-100
  • DW-210 (£19.99 Argos catalogue 200m "diver's watch")
  • F-105
  • A-220 Futurist (original inverse LCD version)
I no longer have the F-100 as it got smashed by accident at school, but I still have the other three. I bought a replacement strap recently for the DW-210 as the original strap disintegrated, but the new strap doesn't match the plastic finish of the case. I wore the Futurist for about 15 years until a metal tab on the three fold clasp broke off, and then the backlight button broke before I could replace the clasp. The F-105 is the one I currently wear every day. The Illuminator backlight still works. People back in 2000 were saying " oh the backlight will stop working after two years and then the watch will be useless". They can eat it - maybe the light isn't as eye-scorchingly bright as it was, but it's still plenty bright enough for the purpose of reading the time in low light conditions.

In recent years I tried out most of the cheap Casios and like the W96H best, despite the ugly 90s design. I use the stopwatch a lot and the large buttons make using it easy. Also the strap is the perfect length for me—many of the other Casios are for wrists larger than mine and I don't care to have extra strap sticking out.

I also have a G-Shock which I like a lot for how it looks but it's bulkier and I've not got used to wearing it, and I don't think it will ever replace the cheapo watch above.

I basically only use my Casio when I'm in a situation where I'm unlikely to have my phone on me, like when camping.

I remember years ago, just before the dawn of smart watches, I was obsessed with Casio Bluetooth watches but never bought one.

Does anyone use bluetooth on their Casio?

I've got a G-Shock silver metal band analog/digital 1800D, purchased in 2007.

It's chunky - but indestructible.
