What are your little rituals you do to help jog your memory? Especially when you forgot what you meant to do just a minute ago...

I've started clapping like this:

It sometimes works?
Also sometimes bowing head down and shaking invisible maracas...

Haha honestly? I sit down on the toilet. Pants up, just assuming the position. It always reminds me

Serious answer: try to remember what I was thinking about the minute before a minute ago and then work forward.

When I find myself in the room where I've forgotten what I came in there for, I go back into the room where I had the idea/thought to begin with. That always brings it back. Context-dependent memory: it really works!

Another thing is, certain numbers seem to have special recall properties for me, so if I say them or think them a few times they help me to access or retrieve the memory I'm looking for.

yeah its funny how the human brain works, sometimes I'll come up with something and not remember what it was, but if you can remember what led you there your brain will find its way back, even if the initial thought was completely and utterly unrelated

I'm curious about these magic remember numbers! Somewhat related but I'll beat the drum intro to blue monday on my leg not necessarily to remember something but to keep a particularly slow train of thought from derailing into the cliffs of forgetting.

I just write everything down. Because I can't remember anything apparently.

you gotta roll with the pączki to get to what's real (snoball), Wednesday, 11 December 2024 19:33 (three weeks ago) link

If I'm somewhere I can't write something down (driving, mostly), I reach into my pocket and turn my wallet upside down.

When I get home and empty my pockets, a weird detail like an upside down wallet will cue the memory.

I give up and just wait for it to hit me later on that day when it’s useless.

Derrida was the name I was looking for, not Deleuze, you idiot.
