At what point did Erol stop being AN Other London indie DJ and suddenly become famous? Articles in the NME, appearances at Tribal, appearance on the Breezeblock last night etc.

erol alkan is playing up here @ bugged out on friday alongside jeff mills, derrick carter, dj c1 and more. it's £20. on the same night dj dexter and jaques le cont are on for a tenner @ chibuku. decisions decisions. er, what's alkan like? what will he play? duran duran and the strokes?

I have just realised friends' band are playing on Tuesday. I will feel guilt and more guilt if I don't go since I missed their last one due to being in Nottingham for work. I don't think my bank balance will stand Trash after all, what with gig on Tuesday and expensive day looming on Friday.

i've still never been to trash. however i'm going to be in boston on monday which is a bit prohibitive. go again in the new year! in fact we shd have a FAP equivalent, i think (hasn't this been suggested before?).

Michael I saw that Bugged Out lineup, pretty swish. Although Jacques Lu Cont would be in my top 5 after seeing him in September. I meant to go to Trash when I was in London but I never got around to it. Alkan cancelled his show here on Friday, Soulwax are still playing but I think I'll go and see Blim instead, and then Umek on Saturday if I can afford it.

Hmmm, Depeche Mode-I Just Can't Get Enough, his remix of Silver Screen Shower Scene naturellment. Some remix of the Wildbunch's "Danger High Voltage" which was very good indeed, kind of electroey. I think he played the Transparent Sounds version of Visage's Fade To Grey aswell. It was excellent, very full on at times but always really quirky and funky aswell.

Not sure I've heard that Matt, I know a few remixes of it but maybe not the electro one. Though Medicine8 did some crazy shit with it when I saw them DJ, incidentally the DJ set was like the album, nothing but those acid type beats of theirs, just total thumping dark stuff for an hour, I mean they made Carter look like a DJ who actually likes hooks, when nothing could be further from the truth, I sometimes think.

Didn't think Erol's mix was much cop actually, except for the Fischerspooner/Kylie track, which is ace. Sarah Cox played some stonking tunes though (Genedefekt!), but this didn't make her any less irritating.

Still - Evel Keneivel by A1 People... YES! Anyone know anything about them?
