Just wondering, because my Bruins are taking all others down to Chinatown this year.

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 15:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Meaning I like what you call "field hockey". It's much better.

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 15:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Nicole to thread!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 15:41 (twenty-three years ago)

i miss hockey night in canada and cbc's coverage of the playoffs. nothing beats hockey playoffs for excitement. boston is doomed until harry sinden dies, mike o'connel is his stooge.

Avril likes hockey!

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 07:42 (twenty-three years ago)

The Bruins do look strong but they won't win another cup until Bobby Orr laces up the skates again. (translation: never) Thornton is the man though.

J-rock (Julien Sandiford), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 08:14 (twenty-three years ago)

7-2, this teams kicks some icicle ass.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 13:11 (twenty-three years ago)

I would like to take my hockey stick and smash it across Avrils face.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 13:18 (twenty-three years ago)

!!! You hurt Sterling in his heart.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 16:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Friend, I hate to be the one to break the news to you but the team to beat this year is the Tampa Bay Lightning, like it or not. Also my beloved Isles are looking fairly strong. Then again, so's the Minnesota Wild, which should reality-check all us underdog-supporters as to just how early in the season it really is.

J0hn Darn13ll3 (J0hn Darn13ll3), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 17:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Tampa Bay Lightning my ass. Bruins baby, Broooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnssssssss.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 17:12 (twenty-three years ago)

12/7 Bruins vs. Lightning, should be a good one.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 17:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Dood, the Bruins' lack of anything dependable in goal is gonna bite them in the buttocks. Contrast that w/ the Khabibulin (sic?) between the pipes for the Lightning, and yous gots some issues. Dirty South over the Southies!

And, Chris, you being a Brooooooins fan, I'm shocked you don't recognize the lame battle cry of the Hartford Whaler fan (cf. BRASS BONANZA!!) Or am I, like, totally dating myself w/ that confession? (I remember one game where Ray Bourque scored on Whaler goalie Kay Whitmore from the Bruin blue line on some lame clearing attempt that just happened to be on net - it was horrific.)

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 18:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't remember the Whalers battle cry at all. Kay Whitmore, was signed by the b's last year as a back up or was it two years ago.

Hey Byron Dafoe was far short of spectacular in the playoffs last year, I like the chances better with Grahame (even though he roams way too much) and Shields. Shields has the best mask ever.

There is no way in hell the Lightning are going to keep up this pace all year. The Bruins of course will. ;)

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 18:41 (twenty-three years ago)

OK I am gonna out my full-sports-geekdom. The other night my wife and I were lamenting the lack of hockey coverage on our satellite dish package, and so we looked into what special packages we might buy that'd increase out hockey games per week quotient. Ten minutes and a couple hundred bucks later we were proud subscribers to Dish Nework's "Center Ice" package, which pretty much gives us any game that's being broadcast anywhere. Home games for Atlanta, Boston, Minnesota, Islanders, Chicago, Denver, Carolina, etc etc etc...oh God it's so great.

The Lightning are a talented young team with veteran Andreychuk there to provide experience/leadership, and will be a force all season...watch for 'em to beat Buffalo tonight, their first win there since '99.

J0hn Darn13ll3 (J0hn Darn13ll3), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 19:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Granted that a random sampling of ilXor posters could probably beat this season's rendition/rendering of the Buffalo Sabres :)

J0hn Darn13ll3 (J0hn Darn13ll3), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 19:38 (twenty-three years ago)

If we can get rid of that hasbeen of a goalie the Leafs have a chance in the playoffs, no chance at winning the conference though. years later Im still smarting from the way the refs threw the game 7 to the Kings by giving Gretzky the swandive call and letting Gilmore get screwed over.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 19:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Hockey fans retain the memory of crucial plays even longer than Boston Red Sox fans, which is saying something

The Leafs need Manon Rheaume! Girlhockey revolution NOW!!!

J0hn Darn13ll3 (J0hn Darn13ll3), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 21:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris: Avril could so totally beat you up.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 22:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris looks like a bruiser! I wouldn't want to get into a fight with him.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 23:25 (twenty-three years ago)

i am pleased the leafs were too cheap to keep joseph, although i am not sure yzerman will come back from having his leg sawed in half. the leafs need to bring back mike palmateer.
