do you ever rewind your videotapes to watch scenes over and over again? (do not read if you hate charles hawtrey)

and why? and did you ever ruin a tape with your obsessive rewinding? any intersting stuff you found?

I have a few favourite Carry On scenes that I can watch endlessly(they mostly have Charles Hawtry in the lead, CH reading "the latest one by Maquis de Sade" on his way to the guillotine, CH's remark as a cesspitt cleaner being 'picked-up' by seaman "Do you like to go to sea, lad"/ "Like to go to see what?")

O...quick! before this thread turns into a Charles Hawtrey S&D giggle thread
(no bad idea though)

Well, carry on, matron!

may i point you to jonathan coe's wonderful "what a carve up!" in which the hero does just this with the scene when kenneth connor is in shirley eaton's bedroom

me? i do it with julie christie's entrance into "billy liar"

As a youngster I'd rewind and freeze frame on the bit in A Room With A View where the nekkid men splash about in the pond. Should point out I was more interested in Rupert Graves than Simon Callow.

Yes. I ruined the Jesus and Mary Chain greatest hits video by too much rewinding of the infamous Bobby Gillespie "it's a sock: it's not a sock!" sceen in the Just Like Honey video. Sigh.

it's a sock ? what's that about ?
i rewind the transformation in 'american werewolf',
the last 20 minutes of 'it's a wonderful life',
the argument between woody and his mate at the end of
'manhattan' in the classroom with the skeleton,
the opening 5 minutes after the credits of 'l.a. confidential' and
heaps of bits from 'in bed with madonna'.
music vid-wise i re-rewind the 'a capella' vers. of
the remake of 'babies' on pulp's 'films/vids' tape.

i just rewound Donnie Darko to before the previews, at the very beginning of the tape. somebody had taped over the FBI warning with handpuppets of Grover and Yoda taking turns saying "Hollywood Video is craaaaaazzzeeeee"

there's a 5-second shot in Air Force One of the distraught h.ford emerging from a trapdoor in the floor that kept me rapturously entertained for a good 15 minutes once. and i always rewatch my favorite sequence in bullit, where mcqueen parks his car and picks up a paper and groceries.

hmm, there's this bit in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey when the evil robot Bill is talking to the princesses and he mimics one of them whining by going "nya nya nya nya nya". when i was younger, i watched that single line repeated over 1000 times due OCR (obsess. compuls. rewinding). me big saddo.
