plasma seems too good to be true but maybe it's really hard on your body? i don't know i've never done it.

imma be real i'd rather live on beans than work customer service or custodial at this point in my life.

Actually looked at overnight custodial at a university for a main income source because I could just mop and look at a boom box but they strongly recommend being bilingual and I don’t think high school German counts.

I did custodial and janitorial work for a summer, back in my 20s. It was the type of work that everybody should probably do at least once in their life, not that I enjoyed it or would ever do it again but I’m glad I did it.

i've had a lot of restaurant jobs in my life, both back and front of house, and have considered doing it again. does this fall under customer service? work is work, but i've found certain restaurant gigs to be at least somewhat fun/interesting, whereas having to work at e.g. target sounds like my idea of hell

re: lyft/ubder, i don't think i could ever tolerate having strangers ride in the back seat of my car.

i hated food service and customer service and would never willingly return to either. in both cases i was either subject to the whims of sociopathic bosses or shitty customers who got paid significantly more than me

selling personal belongings is something i’ve resorted to also. i wish i could afford to trash or donate all of it but these are my only tangible assets. we never talk about having to live with the detritus of your own past as one of the annoying things about not having enough money or employment. i feel like there are also unpaid labor hours involved.

applied for a custodian job with the Post Office - the pay is decent enough for me ($44k), apparently it's the cushiest job in the entire organization and you can rapidly move up the career ladder with more tests for maintenance jobs

two steps up is the maintenance tech position focusing on mail sorting machinery and that pays ~$73k to start which would honestly make me feel like I was rich

I missed voting on this but my current side job is Other - pet sitting. I like it because I can be particular about who I take on as clients - small non-energetic dogs and cats generally, with indulgent but very chill owners. It has custodial elements but mainly I spend a lot of time on other people's couches giving skritches to critters while reading.
