Dr. C (Dr. C), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:19 (twenty-three years ago)

No. We're waiting for word from Pete.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:21 (twenty-three years ago)

for some reason tom's post is the one that finally made me spray coffee all over my keyb and screen

it's been that kind of day

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:23 (twenty-three years ago)

AH.

Right.

Well no-one told me.

Er, Saturday 14th upstairs in the Bricklayers (private hire?) with aleternative club night around there for clubheds.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:34 (twenty-three years ago)

(sorry folks)

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:37 (twenty-three years ago)

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:38 (twenty-three years ago)

yes FRIDAY THE 13TH. WOOOOOOoooooooOOOooOoOoOooOooooo.......

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:40 (twenty-three years ago)

PH34R!

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

OK scary FAP on Friday 13th and another one in January for the people too busy for that.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah but we won't be able to book anywhere for Friday 13th. What were the free dates again and I'll use my giant Fancy A Pint Computah Brain to sort it out.

Sunday afternoon anyone?

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:43 (twenty-three years ago)

There are no completely free dates, I think we decided.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:46 (twenty-three years ago)

please not the 7th or 8th. As a sweetner, I hope to have the ILX comp ready by then! (so can give out the best x-mas present ever)

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 18:24 (twenty-three years ago)

I had forgotten about that comp!!!

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 18:39 (twenty-three years ago)

You lot are prime candidates for this :
http://www.ruout.com/

Simeon (Simeon), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 19:03 (twenty-three years ago)

are you going to come this time simeon?

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 19:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Um, Yes I'll try. Previous attempts have been thwarted by me being elsewhere and other poor excuses.

Simeon (Simeon), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 19:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I thort it was definitely a weekday/Friday. I can't make any w/kend in Dec.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 20:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Friday's good, kinda.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 20:52 (twenty-three years ago)

we won't be able to book anywhere for Friday 13th

Why not? Are there loads of secret Friday 13th societies that book up all the pubs on Friday 13ths?

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 20:57 (twenty-three years ago)

RICKYT THAT IS A SECRET AS YOU WELL KNOW

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 21:08 (twenty-three years ago)

We didnt need to book somewhere last year.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 21:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Is it still in Acton, by any chance?

Andrew L (Andrew L), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 22:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I think Andrew is offering his flat, people! (haha G (A's flatmate) will be delighted!)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 22:14 (twenty-three years ago)

No I am not. No, he would not be. (I'm not even sure he wants his first intial within a hundred million miles of this place - pl tread carefully Martin, you scallywag)

Andrew L (Andrew L), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 22:24 (twenty-three years ago)

can't see it being Acton :(

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 22:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Acton is lovely in the spring.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 22:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I know, I spent my first 18 years there *sigh*

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 23:12 (twenty-three years ago)

fri 13th? I could prob make that if my work do doesn't go on too late. And if it's not in Acton.

jon (jon), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 10:56 (twenty-three years ago)

*sigh* good old Acton, I remember when the Sainsbury's used to be B and Q, and the old Poores building. And the old shopping prescint (sp), they filmed an episode of Tucker's Luck there once. And Woolworths which is now a pub.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 11:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Someone make a bloody decision! Friday 13th seems generally acceptable, and I'd much rather that it was a Friday or Saturday, so that I don't feel the need to rush off early. We won't be able to book anywhere this near to Christmas whenever we hold it, I wouldn't imagine. We just need to choose a good-sized pub, then turn up and gradually take over a section, as in most any other FAP.

So Pete, can you tell us where?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 13:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm with martin on this one. GHS? the champ? (surely all the language skool kids will have effed off home by the 13th???) [insert name of other SS pub here]??

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 28 November 2002 09:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry, I was off ill yesterday and could not finish my fantastic decision making skillZor.

We won't be able to book anythiong on a Friday because as a rule you cannot book anything on a Friday (except if you are very nice to the man in the Blue Posts - and I've tried). However starting early = early colonization of room. I think let's finish as we started though and do the Glass House Stores.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 28 November 2002 11:06 (twenty-three years ago)

does it have to be an SS pub. There's a freehouse that does Adnams at the corner of Foley street and Newport street, by the post office tower, that's nice. I believe it has an upstairs room that we can colonise but but I've never ventured up there.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 28 November 2002 11:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Ed, do you mean the King & Queen at the corner of Foley St & Cleveland St? It is nice but are you sure the upstairs room opens regularly?

As is obvious to all, I am a Sam Smiths fan of long standing.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 28 November 2002 11:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, it has to be a Sam Smiths pub and it has to be the Glasshouse Stores.

I have spoken. I am happy to also take all credit for the failure of this event. Remember December = month of not usual drinkers. It is not good to go to a pub on or just off a major thoroughfare which is open, comfy looking and attractive to the Christmas drinker.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 28 November 2002 12:34 (twenty-three years ago)

No GHS FAP has failed yet. The way the space works downstairs there is more or less perfect for FAPping.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 28 November 2002 12:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Are the dates/times dead set now then?

Graham (graham), Thursday, 28 November 2002 13:17 (twenty-three years ago)

YES.

(Unless someone else argues).

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 28 November 2002 13:32 (twenty-three years ago)

YES.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 28 November 2002 13:37 (twenty-three years ago)

erm, well actually...

(ha, only kidding :))

YES!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 28 November 2002 13:40 (twenty-three years ago)

so (sorry) just to make this utterly utterly UTTERLY clear then it's the GHS on Friday 13th? cor if so you might even get a sneaky peek of AUBREY!! what time - early (ish) doors?

katie (katie), Thursday, 28 November 2002 14:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Note to self: do not cry in the corner when the bar billiards table breaks and the staff are cockfarmers.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 28 November 2002 14:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Haha I'd forgotten Alang was banned from the GHS - are you back from Fantasy Island then Alan?

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 28 November 2002 14:38 (twenty-three years ago)

yes i'll be there. i can sneak in the back way.

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 28 November 2002 14:48 (twenty-three years ago)

(Snigger)

Emma, Thursday, 28 November 2002 14:50 (twenty-three years ago)

ILX bar billiards cup!!!

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 28 November 2002 14:54 (twenty-three years ago)

yay for bar billiards! (even though I'm rubbish)

They probably have a poster of Alan behind the bar in their rogue's gallery.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 28 November 2002 14:56 (twenty-three years ago)

please tell me why alan is banned from a pub.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 28 November 2002 14:57 (twenty-three years ago)

oh oh oh! Will there be a prize for the bar billiards?

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 28 November 2002 14:57 (twenty-three years ago)

they mixed him up with aslan

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 28 November 2002 14:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan got hassled by a bouncer at Trig Bro, I can't remember why! Was it something to do with having a coke can in his shirt pocket?

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 28 November 2002 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

RJG: He trashed it in pique after losing the final Trig Brother vote to Lixi.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 28 November 2002 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, that's how the bar billiard machine got broken.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 28 November 2002 15:01 (twenty-three years ago)

what is a 'pique'?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 28 November 2002 15:03 (twenty-three years ago)

i was very drunk and the unhelpful bouncer pissed me off so i gave him the Vs and went round the back. this was stupid. or punk. mostly stupid

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 28 November 2002 15:23 (twenty-three years ago)

haha, the Vs.

: )

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 28 November 2002 15:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Alang: come in disguise, obv. this is on the 13th, isn't it?

katie (katie), Thursday, 28 November 2002 15:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan can be Santa!

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 28 November 2002 15:29 (twenty-three years ago)

So long as he doesn't spill his sack across the floor.

(Sorry.)

Emma, Thursday, 28 November 2002 15:32 (twenty-three years ago)

When I saw GHS I thought it meant Gosford Hill School. If only they'd had FAPs when I was there.

alix (alix), Thursday, 28 November 2002 17:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I've bought a train ticket!

(well two, obviously)

Graham (graham), Thursday, 28 November 2002 17:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll be there. Was I the Trig Brother bar billiards champ? I'm sure I was in the lead at some point, but I think I left before the end, and I may have been overtaken before then anyway.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 28 November 2002 19:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Tim was champion I think.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 28 November 2002 20:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Bar billiards, well that changes everything doesn't it. I'm not a fan of Sam Smith PA though.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 28 November 2002 20:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Haha Martin I think you'll find I creamed you at the Bar Billiards (no doubt for the only time).

Ed: I have found most OB-hatas can find something they find palatable among Sam Smiths range of bottled beer.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 28 November 2002 20:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, I think you did rather beat my score, yes. I will point out that I had played bar billiards only about two or three times before, back in the '70s, in mitigation.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 28 November 2002 21:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I am up for some bar billiards against Hurricane Skidmore and whirlwind Hopkins, pl.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Thursday, 28 November 2002 22:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Hurricane Hopkins has a better ring to it. I could be Sluggish Skidmore.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 28 November 2002 22:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Martin, I wld never say you were sluggish.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Thursday, 28 November 2002 23:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Did I not leave a trail of slime last time I was at your flat? The medication must be working...

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 28 November 2002 23:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I think a cup format is the way to go. New thread to be started tomorrow methinks.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 29 November 2002 00:18 (twenty-three years ago)
