Does your ilxmail address still work?

voted "I have no idea". I suspect I am registered with a no longer valid e-mail address but don't know how to check this

Just tried logging into the email address I registered with and apparently I no longer remember my password. Or there's some kind of fuckery afoot with Hotmail/Outlook. Could go either way.

I tested this by clicking on my username under a post and then on "Send an Email to this User." It worked.

My ilxmail has been dead for well over a decade. For all I know other ilxors have been trying to use it reach me privately, but I rather doubt it. They seem happy enough to tell me things directly, publicly, and with generous helpings of salt.

It's a Gmail address, so it still works. I don't check it very often, though.

My Lycos addresses went the way of all things years ago, including the one I used to log in here. However I did find this fascinating snippet when searching to see if the company still even exists:

No idea. I got one anonymous ILX email years ago from someone wanting to know how I got my Chris Makepeace t-shirt. Never wrote back--again, anonymous--but I'm guessing this person found me via a search engine, and was not part of the community.

I get them from time to time, most unfun one was someone backing me up on a point that I was definitely very wrong on and going into racism to do so, which really helped underline how wrong I was. I will usually try to reach out to someone privately if we’ve beefed and I want to apologise to them or even just to check in. I do wish we had a more formal dm system but obvs the site exists as it does etc.

I changed usernames 14 (?) years ago because I changed email addresses… mine still works.

I think I swapped usernames to something vaguely more anonymous but still obvious around the time I signed up for gmail. I should probably get off of gmail for reasons and come up with a new handle?
