Okay, I know there was some old discussion here and there on one of the older streaming threads but the first season was a goddamn delight, the second season will drop in December to continue The Year of Goggins and there's a third season coming now too so it deserves its own thread. (Really! It's great!)

I've only watched the first episode, and just the other night, but seeing that image I'm glad that a) Walton Goggins survived the first season and b) he apparently received a nose.

For once a Lussier piece with good information and correct analysis -- the new series will run weekly instead of the full drop model for the first:

In a weird way I didn't *mind* that initial full drop, it made for a great binge, but I did wonder if it would take as a result -- that it has clearly done so is great, but they're smart to go this route for the new season.

And we're off. I appreciate how it felt less like the start of a new season and more just a careful series of continuities from where we left off.

7 eps into series one, after being a late adopter. Very good! Sense of humour appears perfectly judged. Loving every touch from the video games - the typeface, the computers. Really want to repair the disc draw of my ancient Xbox360 now to play through Fallout 3 or New Vegas again.

I had no idea that S2 was out until a week or so ago. Then I spent until last night re-watching S1. It had been a while since the first watch, and when I tried to ease my way into S2 via the recap, I couldn't remember half of what went on. A whole lotta plot for 8 episodes! It is a really great show. Can't wait to get started on season 2.

Really enjoyed s1, watched ep1 of s2 and thought it was a total mess - has anyone watched further?

i think i'm 3 or 4 episodes into s2 - kyle maclachlan digging into some delightfully hammy dale cooper vibes.

So did any of this make sense or what? I feel like there are so many threads, and they started to come together in the end but not quite, so I really don't know what to make of it. It's such a jumble of factions without a clear idea of what they stand for.

Really disappointing finale

Yeah, season was a mess of disparate threads, none of which were really given a conclusion.

Finale felt like it was just trying to set up elements for season 3.

And lol at the deathclaws basically forming an orderly queue to take on Maximus one at a time

eh, all three lead character protagonists got what they were looking for at the beginning of the season and we’re set up with all kinds of things for the next season. i’m good

don’t miss that post-credits scene!

Honestly I really liked the season a lot! Call me an outlier!

Part of it is that there's some mystery (in a good way) about how exactly Cooper and his daughter ended up where they started the series in the flashback, and how Janey ends up with mom after that -- like there's room to fit that in still at some point. But generally I didn't mind everything getting frayed and weird as it went, plus the slow introduction of the Enclave suits me. Steph's journey from Canadian refugee/escapee to Enclave operative, that was rushed (but seeing her 'origin' story in that one episode after the past few weeks felt all too weirdly resonant).

No round table BUT Jon Daly as the snake oil guy hosting Fallout Fake Talkshow was an amazing addendum, I loved all those. Deep Eric Andre energy.

What I found amusing is him essentially turning himself into a vaguely more articulate Dougie in (literally) Vegas at the season's end there.

Every cue is great, especially since they all sorta feel like deeper cuts. Like I don't think I've heard that Roy Orbison song before.

the different faction themes from the bethesda games (fallout 3+) keep playing as they approach a settlement or a group from a faction appears. watching this show feels the most like watching someone play the game of any video game adaptation I’ve seen

To be clear I enjoyed the season a ton. The finale was just so exposition heavy before it was clear it was going ESB and leaving things open. I'm sure when Season 3 is done I will have a different view.

I think part of my problem is I haven't played the game, so I think I'm missing some context for these factions.
