Funny, just yesterday someone was telling me about a great New Mexican restaurant in Melbourne.

Richmond is an inner city suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Weirdly enough, I went to a Mexican in Richmond, Melbourne about six months ago. It wasn't Senor Mexico though.

Melbourne has no "best Mexican" because we don't do Mexican food well to begin with. Also, I'm not sure why you'd advertise a Melb restaurant to the 3.5 people and a dog currently populating this forum who live in Melbs.

LOL probably not. We just dont have that diaspora here, our strengths lie more in stuff like Vietnamese, Thai, Ethiopian and Greek/Italian.

Having been to two Mexican restaurants in Sydney and one in Auckland, one touted as "very good and quite authentic", I continue to remain skeptical any decent, actually authentic Mexican food is to be had in Oceania.

But then again I live in California, surrounded by insanely delicious Mexican food

I’ve heard good things about Esteban but never been. I like Santa Catarina on Clarence st and Carbon which is part of the same group.

I'd say it isn't absolutely top drawer, but pretty good value for money in the fine dining game.
