Sorry, but the last time I dived into bold flavours— slow-cooked meats, and handcrafted salsas the smell didn;t come off for weeks.

Pretty certain there are many, many better Mexican restaurants in Melbourne than Senor Mexico
― Zelda Zonk, Wednesday, 18 June 2025 23:55 (one week ago)

Funny, just yesterday someone was telling me about a great New Mexican restaurant in Melbourne.
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 19 June 2025 00:11 (one week ago)
Richmond is an inner city suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Weirdly enough, I went to a Mexican in Richmond, Melbourne about six months ago. It wasn't Senor Mexico though.

Ain't Melbourne FL, the delicacy there is the "warm nutted salad"

Melbourne has no "best Mexican" because we don't do Mexican food well to begin with. Also, I'm not sure why you'd advertise a Melb restaurant to the 3.5 people and a dog currently populating this forum who live in Melbs.
(OK there's probably more than that, but I can't think of the last time I saw esoj, Haitch or S- post here).
― Stoop Crone (Trayce), Thursday, 19 June 2025 04:21 (one week ago)
menu seems decent enough, but I'd hope there are better Mexican restaurants in Melbourne.
― jaymc, Thursday, 19 June 2025 04:27 (one week ago)
LOL probably not. We just dont have that diaspora here, our strengths lie more in stuff like Vietnamese, Thai, Ethiopian and Greek/Italian.
You should know, you've been here before!
― Stoop Crone (Trayce), Thursday, 19 June 2025 04:31 (one week ago)
Having been to two Mexican restaurants in Sydney and one in Auckland, one touted as "very good and quite authentic", I continue to remain skeptical any decent, actually authentic Mexican food is to be had in Oceania.
But then again I live in California, surrounded by insanely delicious Mexican food
― octobeard, Thursday, 19 June 2025 04:59 (one week ago)
lol I was gonna say, in Oregon there are at least half a dozen good-to-great Mexican places within biking distance of my house
― sleeve, Thursday, 19 June 2025 05:19 (one week ago)
As Trayce said, there just isn't the diaspora here for Mexican cuisine, and its reputation tends towards fast food as there are a few pretty crappy fast food texmex chains here. I did once have a very nice meal here though: https://www.estebanrestaurant.com.au/menu

So thats what he's been up to since leaving ILX.

I’ve heard good things about Esteban but never been. I like Santa Catarina on Clarence st and Carbon which is part of the same group.
― Ed, Thursday, 19 June 2025 06:09 (one week ago)
I'd say it isn't absolutely top drawer, but pretty good value for money in the fine dining game.
― Zelda Zonk, Thursday, 19 June 2025 06:33 (one week ago)
Senor Mexico these are kidney beans, wtf
