What is the correct way to count the call of the wood pigeon?

I'm only half-joking. I've always been fascinated by the phrasing of this call and the way it usually rounds off on what you could call the pick-up.

We have them nesting in our garden. Just tooling about the place not bothering anyone. They never bully smaller birds, they never show fear of bigger birds, they just walk around the garden like shiny little butlers.

My birdcall ID hack for this is that i always thing of them as saying "i'm a... wood pigeon! i'm a... wood pigeon!"
