In the 80s it seems like pretty much every big American action movie needed a "you bitch" moment, which I'm defining as the moment in a movie like Alien when the protagonist confronts a seemingly implacable "other" and unloads an earthy, American retort right in their face
The other two that immediately spring to mind:
- Indiana Jones faced with a bedevilling swordsman just shoots him- Macready dumping whiskey into the computer when it beats him at chess in The Thing
But I feel there are many others! And maybe not just restricted to American movies, and maybe not just restricted to the 80s. What are they?

I cut up a ton of Arnold samples for a mix I did recently and yes like half of his best lines are directly before shooting someone, he's truly the king of this, nobody comes close
― frogbs, Thursday, 14 August 2025 19:09 (three months ago)
his version always had this mix between being "funny" and .. not really funny at all but dead-eyed and arrogant. i guess that was the point haha.

For some reason the "...clever girl" line from Jurassic Park comes to mind, but that's like an inversion of this. An earthy expression of respect before getting mauled

Will Smith's "Welcome to Earth!" in Independence Day perhaps fits better, along with the various insults he throws at the Bug in MIB

Many of the Arnold ones are said after he kills someone, not before. Cf. "Stick around."

(I know the character he's referring to isn't an alien/otherworldly force, but the clip is too good not to post... maybe the "implacable other" in this case can be botanical identification, truly a force to be reckoned with)

"For some reason the "...clever girl" line from Jurassic Park comes to mind, but that's like an inversion of this. An earthy expression of respect before getting mauled"
And also "to be... or not to be" from Star Trek VI. And I mean yes it's also from Hamlet.
I'm struggling to think of an appropriate moment from one of the Trek films. Wrath of Khan has some great lines from Khan, but from what I remember he delivers "from hell's heart I stab at thee" to himself. In Undiscovered Country Kirk and co aren't able to communicate with the chief villain. The rest of the film has some top writing though. "Well fly her apart then" was Sulu's most epic moment in the entire franchise and it was just one line.
There's "smile, you son of a bitch" in Jaws. At this point I was going to do a comedy bit in which I write about Jaws as if it was a paranoid male reaction to 1970s-style feminism - with the shark's killing of children being a metaphor for abortion and its devouring of Quint as simultaneously an expression of fear of castration and also forced homosexuality - but the world of academia has beaten my by several years:https://www.enotes.com/topics/steven-spielberg/criticism/spielberg-steven-vol-20/jane-e-caputi
