(I always thought the characters in Narnia would definitely be using their weird portal to cram for exams instead of going on allegorical romps.)

You won't have any bodily needs while in this magic closet, so you could hypothetically treat it as the world's best writer's retreat and do a marathon sprint of whatever thing you've been putting off (The Great American Novel, Taxes, Doctoral Dissertation, cleaning up mp3 collection, etc...), but since no time passes in the outside world, you could also just read wikipedia articles about voles forever.
