no work talk, no politics, no videos or games or anything else easily recognizable as "not work".
welcome topics: animals. nature. gardens. long (free) articles about peaceful non-powerful people. well-written arts / culture stuff. interviews. discussion about the weather and hobbies. bird-watching society journal articles. accounts of walks. what you feed your dog. that sort of thing.

Hey, I don't mean to thread police, but I'm not sure how else to raise this
Did we maybe not see the requests on the Words, Phrases and Usages thread about not using a clinical mental health term like 'dissociate' in this way? I know 'that's just the tiktok meaning now' but also several people here who do suffer trauma-related dissociation states have asked folks not to use it to mean 'pleasantly daydream, space out or woolgather' because it actually means something quite severe and unpleasant
Sorry if this is an inappropriate ask, but I do try to be sensitive about language

can 'dissociate' be used in a non-clinical sense? Like people are crazy/mad about chocolate chip cookies... or is that no longer okay either?

his interview(s?) with richard burton in particular are incredibly sharp cat and mouse over and back, really compelling

It's ok, map - is there a way to change the thread title to something more neutral or indeed positive?
coz I think it's a good idea for a thread. a space for non-party politics related chitchat would be very welcome
but thta's not what I expected at all when I opened a thread with this title
