a few different takes on this.

Starting with The Construction Geneneral - a vietnamese dude who builds mini hydro electric dams in his back garden.

A Pakistani guy making a large nut and bolt on a lathe

that dam build is amazing... SO much effort for what's essentially a proof-of-concept scale model

I've watched similar time-lapse video of guys rebuilding these completely rusty, decrepit Honda motorcycles, found in Asian ponds or the jungle, working on the ground wearing flip-flops... and they come out looking and running just absolutely amazing. But of course these are to sell, not just as a hobby

I love when people eat dinner at the bar during a slammed service and get really involved watching me with my head down making drinks nonstop for an hour or more, sometimes asking questions or doing a little running commentary. A lot of "how do you remember all those drink recipes?"

Perhaps because I clicked on the video with the Honda, YouTube has now recommended this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmSXo0XdWoA

It's a restoration of a 19th-century German Weltrekord screwdriver. I don't want to stereotype an entire nation, but as the video progressed I remember thinking "hahaha Germans". From 12:00 the video shows the process of making a home-made ball-bearing!

Which raises the question of whether the International Space Station could be repurposed into a ball-bearing factory. You'd just have to suspend balls of molten metal in zero-gravity until they cool, at which point you'd have a perfect sphere. Which apparently is an idea as old as time. How would the ball-bearings get back to earth? I suppose you could fire them out of the ISS and let them re-enter. What could possibly go wrong with firing millions of ball-bearings out of the ISS towards the Earth?

These videos are a lot like pornography. The one above in particular even has electrodes.
