Those pads of tesellated patterns that you could colour in. Usually some utter GURL with a set of poshy-posh-posh Caran D'Ache colouring pencils would fill them in to make ponies and castles. i just liked the pretty patterns you could see in them.

They're ace! Piled up at the side of my computer are 2 books and 2 packets of felt tips (Fine tipped and brush tipped) Personally I prefer Berol felt tips because they are in thin, thick or marker pen size, and they're all in the same shades, but you don't seem to be able to get them now. (If anyone can correct me on this I'd be so grateful) Woolies are doing reasonably good felt tips at the moment. I tend to go for the symmetrical colouring. It's very relaxing, and it keeps the boring people away from me on train journeys. If you're skint and can't afford the books, graph paper make a good cheaper alternative.
