Yeah, no problems for us, as we changed planes in Amsterdam and avoided the US completely. Costa Rica is our new favourite country. What a place!

Aw thanks! I've been doing TV and radio spots now and then for years as "reporter to provide context," so I've slowly gotten better at delivering what the medium wants. Except the hair lol.

A boy and his bear — the earliest photo I have of me with this teddy bear is from 1971, when I was 1 1/2. So he's at least 55 years old. I've managed to keep him through multiple moves, although in recent decades he's mostly been in boxes in basements. I found him the other week on top of a pile of old books downstairs and felt bad seeing him exposed to the basement dust and damp, so I brought him upstairs. His name is Timothy.

Oh, I just saw the circumstances of your fall, so sorry. I have a feeling dogs pulling on leashes are probably responsible for a lot of personal injuries.

(my mom, who's 80 and weighs 90 pounds, lives in fear of her friendly and not-very-large dog pulling her over. It's a reasonable fear, given that her balance is compromised by a gimpy hip. if she's out walking him and sees another person coming with a dog that might excite her dog, she will walk blocks out of her way to avoid it.)

Oh yeah, I am--or at least I was--a pro at avoiding hazards like other dogs, as they drive my older lab crazy (and him going crazy in turn drives my younger lab crazy). My accident was a combo of dogs + multitasking + headphones (I was listening to the new Madonna).
