Most of us have owned one or more motor vehicles. I'm sure many of us have christened a vehicle with a familiar and informal name. I like this habit because it does away with constantly using commercialized marketing language to describe an object in frequent use. I'd rather tell my wife I'm taking Sylvie to the store, instead of the Prius.
Here are some other names of some vehicles from my past:
Juniper - a blue 1979 Honda Accord.Hector - a brown 1978 Toyota Corrolla wagonEvie - a 1984 Chrysler minivanAnnie - a dark gray 1993 Honda CivicRu - a red 1997 Subaru station wagonSylvie - a silver gray 2015 Toyota PriusSean - a bronze 2024 Subaru Outback
My brother has owned:
Amy - a 1953 Ford pickupIke - a 1964 Studebaker sedanOlga - a 2004? Mitsubishi Montero

you are inspiring me to name the current vehicles!
I feel like this was maybe a thing for my parents' generation -- I can't imagine that anyone I know has ever done this.

A friend had a late 70s brown Mercedes that had no end of issues. Anything that could go wrong with that car, did. Ergo, Murphy Brown

Great thread!I’ve owned five cars but only named two of those:
The Floyd - 1994 Volkswagen Golf MK3 Pink Floyd edition (it ruled)De Witte Schicht (White Lightning) - 2010 Volvo C30 R-Design (so named by a friend for its go-kart character)
Should nickname the car I bought last year..

2025 Toyota Corolla: named it "Piepje" (Dutch for Beepie or something). These new cars, because of EU regulations, constantly make warning sounds for every reason possible
