I haven't been taken with mint Altoids, but yesterday I had one of the ginger ones and it was great. Did they just come out with these?

Rockist Scientist, Friday, 29 November 2002 03:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I seriously thought this was a medical condition. Um, what are ginger Altoids?

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Friday, 29 November 2002 09:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Sigh.

Rockist Scientist, Friday, 29 November 2002 17:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Mint Altoids used to be great (for 150 years!), then they were taken over by someone and the tin changed, and then they disappeared. not tried them again since their reappearance...

michael (michael), Friday, 29 November 2002 22:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Do they feel as nice when someone is enjoying an altoid and youdown there??

brg30 (brg30), Saturday, 30 November 2002 21:10 (twenty-three years ago)

ginger altoids are excellent. they've been out since july, apparently, but i just saw them for the first time this week.

bhoward, Wednesday, 4 December 2002 21:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Altoids are owned by Phi1ip M0rr1s!

one year passes...
I just made ginger blintzes.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 18 November 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

these altoids are too much for me. i popped 2 in my mouth at once and it was as if the fiery hounds of satan were gnawing on my tongue.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Thursday, 18 November 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

has anyone tried the licorice ones yet?

peter smith (plsmith), Thursday, 18 November 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

The ginger ones give me a horrible headache.

Je4nne Ć’ury (Jeanne Fury), Thursday, 18 November 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

altoids should really only be consumed one at a time. and as part of a full english breakfast

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 18 November 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

The liquorice ones are incredibly unbelievably good, and are now my favorite candy that is neither chocolate nor sour nor not candy at all but actully a blowjob. I'm not even much of a licorice fan normally, although I don't hate it (I eat black jellybeans only because everyone's like "hey, you eat these, take mine" -- I don't go in for Dutch double salted or anything aniseheady like that). But in Altoid form, it's just ... great.

My only complaint about the ginger and liquorice Altoids is that they're not as intense as the wintergreen or original peppermint ones. No one ever seems to make the Altoid face from ginger or liquorice.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 18 November 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Both the ginger and the liquorice Altoids are the greatest things ever created.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 18 November 2004 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait, at the same time? Or are they just sharing the gold medal?

Doesn't matter, I need to try them at the same time. Ginger liquorice!

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 18 November 2004 23:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i was really hyped on the ginger ones when they came out and my wife and i freaked out when we couldn't find more boxes after our first one ran out. then we found a secret stash and bought like 5boxes and i hate them.

i usually love liquorice, but i hate altoids liquorice

my new fave: ALTOIDS GUM! good shit

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 18 November 2004 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Also great and terrific: sour apple Altoids!

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 19 November 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Although the sour Altoids are really a separate beast, and I'm not always convinced they should share a name.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 19 November 2004 00:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the tangerine ones better.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 19 November 2004 00:10 (twenty-one years ago)

do these newfangled non-minty altoids have anything to do with freshening breath?

don't blame me, i voted for ram jam (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 19 November 2004 00:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope

luna (luna.c), Friday, 19 November 2004 00:11 (twenty-one years ago)

but they taste good.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 19 November 2004 00:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Tangerine is good, too, but I went on a bender with them the other day and the inside of my cheek still hurt two days later. Actually, it still hurts now.

Sour Altoids make your breath smell like fruit! What's fresher than that? No one has ever said "boy, this licorice sure is fresh," but they say it like fun about oranges.

(But they really should be Taloids or something. I don't buy "strong flavor" as a reduction of the Altoids brand concept. I'll accept the misnamed cinnamon Altoids into the fold, but only under duress.)

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 19 November 2004 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I love love licorice (including salted) but the liquorice Altoids smell up the whole room they're kept in and make me unwontedly sick of the flavor.

Ginger Altoids are a little too sweet maybe for me but great when you're queasy; almost as good as Ting-Ting Jahe.

Paul Eater (eater), Friday, 19 November 2004 01:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I love licorice, but am profoundly befuddled at how it could make a mouth feel fresh.

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 19 November 2004 13:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Tep, you know how I once did you a favour and you said that you would return the favour one day, though that day may never come?

It's come.

Can you send me some sour apple altoids?

Ol' prune face (Mark C), Friday, 19 November 2004 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 19 November 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

WTF is salted liquorice about. that ain't right.

Nellie (nellskies), Friday, 19 November 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Of course, Mark! Email me your address, I'll pick some up next time I'm at the store.

(Salted licorice is very very weird. Blame the Dutch.)

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 19 November 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

five months pass...
i am chain-eating citrus sours tonight. for one because they're dangerously good, and also because there's no other stimulants around and i need the sugar to keep me awake. can we get a campaign going for altoids to put caffeine in these?

cindy williams permafrost (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 13 May 2005 06:37 (twenty years ago)

Altoids are owned by Phi1ip M0rr1s!

that explains it!
