Anniversary Gifts

Not a plea for suggestions, but rather an idle question: what types of gifts would you like to receive for your anniversary? Specific types of jewelry? The traditionall themed anniversary gift (ie paper for first year, cotton for second year, etc)? Googobs of cash? A trip?

Nosy minds want to know!

A big ass ring.

I would like to receive some luuuuuuurve, babeeee. No jewellery. Got plenty o'that shit. If you don't have lurve pour moi, bloody money will do. (I am listening to Capone N Noreaga, excuse my jive ass talk.) You can give me some cupboards for my CDs and books. Oh yeah! "Decline of Western Civilisation". I badly need a videotape of that.

A nice day together, look at the stars in the evening. *sigh*

On Saturday, my brother and his lovely wife celebrated their second aniversary. I got them Pop-Up Pirate.

jamesmichaelward, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Whatever Pop Up Pirate is, I want it.

Ally, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Pop-Up Pirate is a game where you have a plastic barrel thing with a pirate in it and you stick swords in until eventually, one sword makes the pirate pop up. If your sword makes the pirate pop up then you win. It's ace. For about five minutes.

Holy shit, that sounds like the best thing possibly ever invented, it's even better than Hungry Hungry Hippos.

Ally, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hungry Hungry Hippos isn't hard to beat, though. I'd want a trip.

Lyra, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

NOTHING is better than Hungry Hungry Hippos - the only drawback with HHH is that the levers to make their mouths work tended to break.

DG, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I got Screwball Scramble for Christmas. I want candy floss.

Greg, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hungry Hungry Hippos sucks. You think it's really good but then you play it and all that happens is that after exactly one minute, you become exhausted after hitting that thing REALLY REALLY fast.

Hungry Hungry Hippos is also really noisy, which is why, in school, when it was the last day of term and you were allowed to bring in games to play, your teacher would confiscate it after about half an hour.

Mousetrap was even suckier because you'd spend AGES setting it all up and then Adam Durrent would knock the table and you'd have to spend AGES setting it all up again.

Screwball Scramble, on the other hand, is ace. As is its little brother, Aaaargh

jamesmichaelward, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I hated Adam Durrent too. Fucker.

Ally, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'd want Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots before I'd want Hungry Hungry Hippos. Absent that, I'd want as an anniversary gift the same thing I want as a birthday gift, a Christmas gift, a going-away gift, etc. - - MONEY. I always want money.

nine years pass...

I cannot believe this list of UK anniversary gifts goes to 90. Is it ST(ONE because by the time you have been married for 90 years, you have OSSIFIED? This is why I don't do standup comedy btw. But I always found lists of traditional anniversary gifts hilarious when I was a kid (they always seemed to be filling space at the back of my mom's day planner, along with a unit conversions chart). Like giving your true love a single piece of paper, or a cotton ball, or a chunk of wood, was comedy gold to me. I didn't realize it wasn't quite so literal.
