TS: Bernie Clifton vs Derek Bailey

It occurred to me while watching The Entertainers last night - gruff, miserable but smart Northern comedian with one basic act which is unreproduceable by anyone else, and who plays the object(s) of his contempt like a fiddle (or guitar - though Mr Clifton's a trombone man, apparently). And someone who exalts in his own "dullness."

The ostrich = Evan Parker, obv.

Out of all the people on The Entertainers I think he's come out in the best light. He's treating the student-schmuck with a nice pinch of careful disdain tempered by nicety, he obv. knows that it's not going to get him back on the telly (oh yeh, HAR HAR) so he's playing. I have no idea who this Derek Bailey chomper is so Bernie = the winner.

Sub-qn: could you marry Leo Sayer?

what do you mean by 'you don't know who derek bailey is'. haven't we (N)educated you on that?

Harry Hill played on this on TV Burp, telling Clifton to get another idea. Clifton comes on later dressed as an ostrich riding a human.

Derek Bailey has never made me laugh, but then again neither has Bernie Clifton, so the Skidmore pools panel calls it a scoreless draw.
