At least read List of inventors killed by their own invention and List of people who have died while on the toilet to see if there is any crossover.

In 2004, Wisconsin's Waupun Prison instituted a ban on playing Dungeons & Dragons, arguing that it promoted gang-related activity. The policy went into effect based on an anonymous letter from an inmate saying that four prisoners who played the game were forming a "gang". When the ban took effect, the prison confiscated all D&D-related materials.

couldn't choose between Charles Harrison and Sankebetsu brown bear incident, but ultimately went for Charles Harrison

well vote in haste, repent at leisure - having read both articles the Sanbeketsu brown bear incident is clearly more interesting. the charles harrelson story is just sad. the idea that he was involved in the jfk assassination is clearly implausible, resting entirely on a claim he made during a stand-off with police in which he was high on cocaine. every texan alive in 1963, and some that weren't, seem to be suspects in the JFK assassination.

the sanbeketsu incident is comparatively lacking in sources, but clearly was an important event in 20th century japanese history. if anything it's missing information, as it completely fails to mention that the incident was clearly a key inspiration for the 2015 anime "yuri kuma arashi", aka "lesbian bear storm". i know this mainly through my interest in yuri anime. frankly, the whole anime made no sense to me at all when i first tried to watch it. now that i have the necessary context, i think i will try watching it again. it doesn't really seem like one of the top-tier yuri anime to me - a lot of yuri is this "class s" stuff that occupies kind of the same niche as yaoi - but at least it won't be entirely incomprehensible to me.

btw it might seem a weird basis for a yuri anime, but yuri is just like that. there's also a yuri manga/anime based on "roadside picnic", the novel that inspired the film tarkovsky film "stalker". (As often happens, the manga is a lot better.)

I appreciate the randomness of The Road to Wellville, but "List of inventors killed by their own invention" is the one I'm actually going to visit, so that.

Death during consensual sex
List of entertainers who died during a performance

Would love to see the overlap between the two.

List of entertainers who died during a performance is the one I most suspect I've already read.

List of inventors killed by their own invention is an all time classic page

I've spent hours upon hours going through 'list of unusual articles' in a cycle

Georg Wilhelm Richmann (1711–1753) built an apparatus to study electricity from lightning. While "trying to quantify the response of an insulated rod to a nearby storm," it produced a ball of lightning that struck him in the forehead and killed him.[44]

Vs

Clarence Madison Dally (1865–1904) was an employee of Thomas Edison tasked with developing a focused X-ray tube, the fluoroscope. It was derived from but had greater luminosity than Wilhelm Röntgen's 1895 design. As a result, Dally was exposed to significant doses of ionizing X-radiation and eventually contracted fatal mediastinal tumors.[citation needed]

For a long long time I've had "list of shipwrecks in 2012" open as the very first tab on the left of my Firefox instance:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_shipwrecks_in_2012

I just find it comforting reading about shipwrecks. I'm wrapped up warm with a hot cup of tea while reading about how Igloo became a total constructive loss after running aground off the coast of Alaska.

"Haruyoshi Ōkawa, who was six years old and the son of the Sankebetsu village mayor Ōkawa Yosakichi at the time of the incident, grew up to become a prolific bear hunter. He swore an oath to kill ten bears for every victim of the attack. By the time he reached the age of 62, he had killed 102 bears."
