WHY DOES NO ONE EVER WANT TO GO TO LOST??????????!
― gareth (gareth), Saturday, 30 November 2002 20:55 (twenty-three years ago)
cos the last time i went i ended up clinging on to the floor for three hours.
actually i'll definitely go to the next lost, it's about time i replaced the memory of that last one with something better.

(Trash annoys me, I suppose partly because they have such an arbitrary no-ugly-people-sharp-dressers-only dress code so I probably wouldn't get in, and I don't know that I like the idea of being surrounded by people who can look in the mirror and go, "Yes, I look fabulous tonight, and everyone else who sees me will agree." Perhaps I should stop disliking them without even having been, especially since on their website it said that And The Lefthanded played there recently and I didn't even know that they were in the country. Sigh.)
How do women dress for stuff like Lost and Warp things? I don't do looking nice. But then I don't do going out either any more.
― Rebecca (reb), Saturday, 30 November 2002 23:22 (twenty-three years ago)
I dunno, I don't think the dress code (a phrase which I admit suggests evil) applies much. I've never been knocked back (I don't look that great) and I've never seen anyone knocked back. Unless you really don't look like you should be in such a place you would be okay. Also, inside there are quite a few ugly people, but a higher than average proportion of good looking people. This is a good thing, I think.

Er, sorry, carry on.
Come to think of it, that's a great argument. Why not try it on ILM, re indie debate?

good indie records played tonight:
david bowie ~ sound and visionthe strokes ~ hard to explainm.o.p ~ ante uobasement jaxx ~ romeowu tang cl;an ~ wu tang aint nothin to fuch with
bad: um, the rest!
but it was ok as nights out go
its kind of weird at these kind of lowest common denominator indie nights though, everyone thinks you're like really ace or something, especially girls! i mean, graham should so go to something like this!

Seriously, what do people wear at Warp/Rephlex/etc things and Lost and so on? I'd have gone to some by now if I had any transport, but I'm always scared it'll be like eg the local house night where all the guys are there in jeans and t-shirts and trainers looking like they've been wearing them all week and all the women are in slinky little black dresses and three hours' worth of makeup. I only really do the former, I mean if there's an explicit no-jeans-or-trainers dresscode then ok but I'll feel out of place all night... *waves hands*
(I only wanted to go and hear James Holden DJ because he uses the same softsynth/sequencer as me anyway which is just sad and trainspotterish)

had fun though, mainly due to advanced inebriation...
next time i go to a nite like this (and, oh yes, there will be a next time) i am making up INDIE BINGO cards.
also does one have to wear skool uniform to go to after skool?

this really isn't the case at warp/rephlex/lost type things. ok, some ppl dress up, but most people don't, as far as i notice. lost in particular is about dancing all night rather than looking good. and warp/rephlex things have plenty of geeky badly dressed people, lots of whom don't dance.

This is a good thing about being a goth though - make it black!! This policy has even got me into cockfarming Trash a few times as well. BLACK IS YOUR FRIEND, children. You can't go wrong. This is a lesson I should have learnt earlier. And also if you are a goth you are supposed to think you look terrible anyway and there is a chance you MAY not look so bad - I recommend not looking in mirrors, getting very drunk and then pretending that I am not a huge ginormous munter that everyone is larffing at because I am dancing like I am on DDR.
Actually I got complimented on my dancing once (whilst doing a DDR style shuffle @ a northern soul nite), I think the complimentee was on DRUUUGZ though.
