So? I want to hit every major country by day's end.

Search: Kahlua, salsa, really spicy shit.

Destroy: Enchiladas that are made real heavy with lard, or really anything made real heavy. Fresh-mex food is better.

S: Pancho Villa, cheap labor and a devalued peso.

California Mex challenges Italian food for the Finest In The Land, but it really don't count, I think...

Ally... you've been to Benny's, right?

JM, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like Manhattan Chili Company, but I don't like the one by the Ed Sullivan theatre as much. Those chips with the bean dip. Now that's yummy. Does that count?

Nude Spock, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Benny's, dude... Benny's...

JM, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Yucatan seems pretty cool.

Nitsuh, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think I went to Benny's once. We go to Harry's a lot, and Burritoville.

Ally, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo mess was classic

10 Fiesta
20 Siesta
30 Goto 10

"Fresh-mex" food is abominable. It's all about the cow brains and the lard. Mexico is obviously the greatest country in the world.

Destroy: Tijuana, Cabo Wabo. PLEASE.

The Revolution was a fucking trip. No wonder the US was paranoid for a while.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I went to Acapulco a few years back, and a few blocks from our hotel was a Wal-Mart, one would suspect the only one in town. It looked frighteningly like a temple you'd see on an Iron Maiden cover--long ramp/stairs entrance leading up to the mammoth edifice. Inside was playing that stupid Julia Roberts movie where everyone breaks into song at a lunch.

I like Chevy's, it's like the Friendly's of Mexican food. I like tequila.

Otis Wheeler, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've always wanted to go to Mexico, and had a chance to do so several years ago but I wussed out. I'd like to do the cheesy stuff (like go to Cancun and Cozumel), but I'd also love to get out into the countryside. Would have to learn Spanish before I could do that properly, of course.

Re Mexican food: since there are lots of Mexicans where I live, there are also lots of Mexican restaurants, from the fancy places (like East LA) to hole-in-the-wall burrito and taco joints. Mexican food = almost as classic as Italian food. And Mexican people = definite classic.

Hugo Sanchez: the bomb-diggity. A total classic.

Guy who did the bunny-hop with the ball between his feet at France '98: massive dud.

Benjamin, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mexicans: geniuses at swearing. Like car horns that play tunes (esp at three in the morning). Dig metal and gay pop. Masters of the five hour meal. Believe that you can never own too many cars at once. Live in my favourite country.

They're easy to draw, providing you draw an aerial view. Two concentric rings. So easy! You can then add to your wonderfully fractal pic by adding some eggs frying in a pan and if that wasn't enough you can go out into a cornfield and recreate the entire scene in crop-circle stylee. Well, once this foot 'n' mouth nonsense is over, anyway.

My mate went to Mexico, he said they have big heads and small bodies but I would hate to support this sweeping generalisation. He also said it was full of holidaying Americans, one of them headbutted him in an entirely unprovoked attack. Pete has been there too, haven't you?

Emma, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Most of the holidaying Americans are drunk college students from San Diego or Arizona come down on the trolley to Tijuana to get drunk easily and cheaply without ID prior to turning 21. There are bars there where they grab random girls heads, hold them back, and pour tequila in your mouth - for free! My roommate tried to do this to me at a bar in NYC, she dumped an entire margarita on my face.

two months pass...
I would like to say that I MADE MY OWN BURRITOS last night and they roXoRED! Of course I did put double the amount of mix in that I should have done but still. BEAUTIFUL. Except I made two burritos and could only eat half a one, so I left them by my bed. This morning I finished off the other half of one. IT TASTED EVEN BETTER. Does this happen with all Mexican food or am I just SCUZZY?

Sarah, Monday, 12 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

All spicy food better after left over night. Allows better blending of flavours or summat. Two day old curry = divine.

RickyT, Monday, 12 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mmm yum. I'm currently having my regular lunchtime dilemma of what to eat and all I want is the burrito lying by my bed. MMMMMM. So good. Spices blending together yes, 2 day old leftover curry is AMAZINGLY good and I am sure that is the reason and I am not scuzzy oh yes.

I had no idea Kaluha was Mexican!

Sarah, Monday, 12 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

destroy: El Macho, who stole my true loves heart. Damm you El Macho!

Mr Noodles, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
