A glass of water(or pint) in the face

Have you ever done this in anger? While on a night out?

On Friday someone did this to my friend but lots of it hit me, we didn't mind too much cos it was in the middle of a sweaty club and it was only water and the DJ was good. She was kind of mental at the time, she did apologise to me for the collateral damage. I still acted annoyed even though I didn't mind, I'm not sure why, she probably felt incredibly stupid about it the next day given that there was no reason for doing it, or at least the reason was pretty lame.

Anyway have you done stuff like this? Or slapped someone?

a girl poured a pint of water over my head no for reason once! i mean, she admitted it was for no reason, she was just pissed

Hehehehe.

This has just reminded me of something.

Hehehehehehehe.

Consensual throwing water in each others faces is fun.

I still don't know why I acted annoyed, do any of you act annoyed when you aren't really annoyed. I guess it makes no difference. I don't think this has ever happened directly to me, it was very funny though.

Once when I was bartending, this awful queen who'd been giving me shit all night long left me a handful of pennies as a tip. So I dumped them in his beer.

I was once dumped at a Christmas party in a cowardly and pathetic way. In revenge, I tipped a pint of beer over the recent ex's head. I knew this would really really upset him as he was v poor and had just spent his last £2 on that drink.

Madeleine (Madeleine), Monday, 2 December 2002 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I've had it threatened but never carried out. For myself I believe it a sin to waste beer - a plate of pub nachos on the head would not however be beyond me.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 2 December 2002 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

A friend once poured red wine on an ex-manager's head, but also in a cowardly way whilst running out the door. I don't think I'd really care as long as it was water and I wasn't dressed in nice clothes. In a hot club I definitely wouldn't care.

I have been trying to make an effort to act less annoyed than I really am rather than more so. It's too much effort and then you end up feeling silly about it later.

yes, this dreadful french bartender at upstairs at the garage... totally shortchanged me - i handed him a £20, and yes, i KNOW it was a £20, and he gave me £5 change and would not listen to me, so I threw the drink in his face. damn, what a waste of a double vodka, but i was really pissed off (not to mention pissed.) i was supposedly banned from the bar, but i just started smuggling in special instead- far, far cheaper.

If Sarah is suggesting that throwing water or some such at one another is sexy, I agree.

I was once informed by a faithless boyfriend who had just dumped me that I SHOULD throw my beer over him. I think I said something like 'Are you kidding? I now NEED this drink.' Of course in retrospect I should have thrown HIS beer over him but you never think of these things at the time. (Unless you're Maddie.)

I have never done this, though I know plenty of ppl who have. I knew this guy who would routinely humiliate his girlfriends in public. Usually it was verbal, but on one occasion it involved throwing a pint of beer over the unfortunate girl's head. There was also an occasion at uni where this guy had a glass of coke poured over his head, but he was doing something really annoying which warranted it (ie, coming up behind a girl, grabbing her by the arms and saying "go on, dance!"

I once adjudicated a duel involving pints of water which took place in the car park of my student hall (this is the second time in as many days that I have mentioned Badock Hall - I couldn't be going all misty-eyed about my stoodie days by any chance?). It was all done properly - walk back ten paces ect ect. One of the combatants was in charge of the dark room and the pint glasses (weapons) were normally used for mixing chemicals for developing photos. I'm not sure whether these might have delterious effects on one's sight if they ended up in the person's eyes. I am sure no-one considered this at the time.

in answer to ronan's question - yes, i often act annoyed in a situation where i believe that acting annoyed is seen as the appropriate response but i am not annoyed. i end up feeling ridiculous. this 'role-playing' may also encompass such feelings as excitement, interest, empathy and affection.

michael wells (michael w.), Tuesday, 3 December 2002 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't even scream or shout, I guess I took the high moral ground (always a bit of a lame move) cos all I said was "you're going to feel like an idiot when you think about why you did this".

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 3 December 2002 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

i usually look for the expression of bemusement, usually because i am bemused that people do such silly things.

sometimes i mix the bemusement with a touch of slightly concealed contempt.
