Christmas books

Seeing as it's that time of year again, and because I'm feeling all literary today: What books put you in a Christmassy mood when you read them?

For me, there are two main ones:

The Children Of Green Knowe by Lucy Boston. It's all warm and snuggly.

The Box Of Delights by John Masefield. It's got magic, evil villains, snowstorms and scrobbled bishops desperate to get back to their cathedrals in time for Midnight Mass.

In both of these cases: mid-80s BBC Tv adapatations are a natural plus-point.

Caitin, I'd just clicked on this thread to write Box Of Delights, and I see that not only have you put that, you've also got The Children Of Green Knowe which I used to love, but had forgotten about. Both of those and The Snow Spider.

all of these three! hmm, hopefully my copies of them are still at my parents' house.

what was that other john masefield one? the midnight folk? that rocked, too.

i only have v faint memories of the tv adaptation of the box of delights (and of the book, for that matter); a tramp in a tunnel somewhere? classic, anyway.
