Who got out of the Wrong Side of Bed?

I've just managed to spill most of a cup of hot coffee across my desk and trousers - this does not bode well for a good work day. Anyone else having a WSoB sort of morning?

robster (robster), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 09:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh dear. Do you have a sticky caffeinated keyboard now?

In other news, my manager broke a little plastic bit of her bra this morning, and as another person was fiddling trying to sort it out (in the middle of an openplan area), the people from KPMG who are doing some Management Consultancy effort at the moment walked into the office. Slightly boggled, they said, "Carry on" and continued on their way.

Liz, are your co-workers Kenneth Williams and Barbara Windsor?

Laptop fortunately escaped deluge. Trousers almost dry and coffee not scalding hot, so ok there. I now smell of nasty vending machine beverage though.

robster (robster), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmmmm nasty vending machine beverage-flavoured Robster. Poor thing.

Co-workers not Kenny and Barbs, although the manager does have a laugh quite like Sid James'.

Did you ever get up on the wrong side of bed
With an achin' head and just fall apart?
You're running late, the boss is bitchin',
It's cold outside, and the car won't start
Well I don't mean to bitch I swear
Cause we all got our cross to bear

Do you see? Poison really do have life figured out!

I hate mornings, I still feel half asleep now.

I bought the wrong train ticket today. I have made this journey every day for 13 months. That's how MY day is going.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, we had a team meeting about our office move at the end of the year from my present place (five minute walk away in a pleasant leafy riverside location) to the new one (20+ min. bus journey away in an unpleasant leafless business park location) and it appears that many of the rules & regs we'll have to abide by are quite draconian. No non-corporate screen-savers! Photos on desks to be kept to a minimum! No non-corporate wire trays! No eating of hot food at desks!

Small consolation, I know, but my coffee remains unspilt. I hope Robster's trousers are darkly coloured and that the spillage took a crotch-avoiding route.

just waking up... have headache. need quiet moments before hell day at office. but someone else isn't tired though and is goin around screeching "I DON'T LIKE SPAM" in a monty python voice. SWIFT DEATH FROM ABOVE......

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I am having a good day. I didn't go on the internet at all between 9am and 12.10pm. Sorry.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Sounds nasty, Mark. Clean desk policies are rub but usually they're not rigorously enforced (in my experience) unless the site is used to impress potential customers. There are similar policies here *munches sandwich* but I've only had to abide by them when the ISO9001 people are in. Of course, your other option is to spend as little time as possible at your desk - although your location makes pub lunches impractical from the sounds of things.

Oh yes. Black trousers. Always.

robster (robster), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Walked this morning from home to Millennium Bridge, then over bridge, along south bank until Hungerford Bridge, then across to the ICA, which was closed. All the while the rain was escalating and Kate and I made a policy error in not taking her mac and my umbrella so by the time we got to Royal Festival Hall we were drenched. We were even more drenched by the time I got back and I am trying to shake a headcold so am now sitting here with hot lemon/brandy concoction to stave off anything other massive doses of vitamin C won't shift. Then have to tidy flat, do masses of work and go through another whole box of Kleenex using just my nose.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I was having a lousy sort of stuffed-up-nose, spilled-coffee-grounds, trip-over-puppy's-dish morning, blech. But I just plugged in my xmas tree's lights and the radio is playing some old REM, which made the morning seem much nicer.

Mark, your new work rules sound horrible, though! :-( Can you convince them to let you telecommute once a week or something??

lyra (lyra), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Good luck tidying the flat with your nose, suzy! I used to do that before I bought this Dyson.

My day seems to be starting just fine.

Paul Eater (eater), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 15:55 (twenty-two years ago)

By amazing coincidence, I threw a cup of hot tea all over my keyboard this morning too. I thought it was going to be okay - it carried on working for about ten minutes, then it started putting "x" and "z" into every word so I had to go and buy a new one :(

C J (C J), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, I got up and was quite sick. But then I went back to bed and slept and now I feel much better, so now it's a right-side-of-bed morning.

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I did. I feel mean and cranky today.

rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 5 December 2002 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Count me in. I have a very long flight to make today and I've got a headache and I need a haircut and since I'll be singing once I get to where I'm going I'm having my usual hypochondriac fits.

On the bright side I seem to have matured sufficiently for this complaint not to run some 3,000 words :-)

J0hn Darn13ll3 (J0hn Darn13ll3), Thursday, 5 December 2002 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

katie (katie), Thursday, 5 December 2002 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

It's lovely stuff, just don't suck it down like it's cooking lager.

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 5 December 2002 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

(um RIck that pint lasted from before Pitman and was an inch from the bottom when i left SO THERE. the previous pint lasted nearly an hour. SO THERE)

katie (katie), Thursday, 5 December 2002 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

katie (katie), Thursday, 5 December 2002 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

definitely having a WSoB day, but not in a clumsy way. I'm in more of a sort of 'who wants a bloody fight then?" day.
i need to chill, i shall go home and vent my frustrations out on my artpad.

Fuzzy (Fuzzy), Thursday, 5 December 2002 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm still in a sour, but a puppy kissed me today, so I feel slightly better.

rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 6 December 2002 03:38 (twenty-two years ago)
