(This is what happens when I got to meetings over an hour long.)

Walk across a crowded room
As if you own the place
Conversations trail away
As people see your face
Piercing eyes and perfect chin
Tender smile and silky skin
Hair swept over elfin ear
Everybody knows you're here

Superstar, Superstar
Never thought you'd get this far
Fancy coats and candy cars
Are what you get for being ours

Chat with those you've met before
Because they're all "best friends"
Chat with people fresh and new
"I'm sure we'll meet again!"
Not a single thing askew
Every single eye on you
Radiant and in control
Of every heart and every soul

Superstar, Superstar...

Blink against the flashing bulbs
As people call your name
Everyone around the world
Would kill to have your fame
Never pay for clothes or shoes
Catch a cold, it's front page news
The spotlight's on and you're in it
And you love every bit of it

Superstar, Superstar...

Everywhere you go, you're loved
But when you leave, it's told
The perfect chains to hold a slave
Have links gilded with gold
You can sing and you can dance
Have a fairytale romance
Just remember at all times
Everything you are is mine

Superstar, Superstar...

I'm impressed Dan! In a pedantic mood I might object to "gilded with gold", but I won't be petty. Song rather than poem, I'd have thought - it has a chorus, and the rhythm would suit a song well. Perhaps one for Oh No! ILX Comp! Oh No! (Slight Return) or something.

Take out "elfin." It's distracting.
Other than that, rock on.

Maybe he was thinking of Jenna Elfman. Y'ever think of that? Huh?

It's a nifty lyric. Falls out of metre a few times, but if you sing it, there are ways to cover that up. Makes its point several times over, but with enough variety in the retelling that it doesn't grate - which is about right for a popular song. The real trick is a hooky tune - then you're all set (pun intended).
