S/D - Toytown Techno

In honour of "It's A Rainbow" by Rainbow, a trance track with bits of the Rainbow theme which somewhat took me by surprise during the Top 40 rundown.

What TV themes SHOULD have had rave versions, too?

Tom (Groke), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Neighbours

smee (smee), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Last of the Summer Wine.

Search: "Charly", "A Trip To Trumpton", "Roobarb and Custard", "Toontown"

Destroy: "Sesame's Treet", alas. It just doesn't work.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

didnt rainbow already have the rave treatment?

gareth (gareth), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Neongenesis Evangalion. Must find an MP3 of the theme tune, coz it's great! (I still don't understand what the hell is going on in the show though).

The Archers.

Also search "Doctor ?" even though it isn't really toytown.

Search: Mark Summers 'Summers Magic' - plundering The Magic Roundabout and a host of other TV classics

Destroy: The Badman 'Magic Style' which tries to do the same thing but just doesnt cut it as well

they were both released at the same time in 1990, hence the comparison

i do remember at least one rave/jungle track that sampled the theme about 7/8 years ago

there was also a Dr WHo track called 'Return Of The Doctor' and i think it was credited to Boomtown

and lets not forget that awful Monkess jungle track from around '95/'96 - i remember Fabio being particularly vitriolic in criticising that one

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Who did the Sesame Street one? That was great.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

That was Smart E's, and time has not looked kindly upon it IMO.

I didn't realize "Summer's Magic" qualified! That track is GENIUS!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

there was a joey beltram remix of that!!!

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

allegedly when "Trip To Trumpton" came out American ravers thought it was about some town in England where everyone was rave mad, and then went to travel agents looking for flights there.

allegedly.
