Mike Hanle y (mike), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Queen G (Queeng), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I guiltily drink Starbucks coffee I buy from the supermarket, next to the FOlgers and Maxwell House. I tried to use our local roastarie's , but it tastes like paper! Can someoen suggest a Starbucks'-like French Roast that is not starbucks?

Mike Hanle y (mike), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 04:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll ship you a can of Tim Horton's for a CD or a small fee.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 05:08 (twenty-two years ago)

didn't you used to work at Starbuck's, hanle y?

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 05:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, I worked at Starbucks. At first I thought it was great. They seemed like a "nice corporation". But the longer I worked there, the more I realized " Wait a minute! They're not nice at all! They just care more about public relations!" Rest assured, my tenure as shift supervisor was spent giving out many free beverages to customers and instructing my co- workers to relax and have fun. Our Starbucks was ina strip mall in the suburbs, but here in KC they invaded the "hip" streets and parked their fat green asses right by Muddy's Cafe and the Lesbain Cafe. But they dont get much business.

Kim, a Cd? You mean of my recordings? Like my recent Emily Dickinson Rap album?

Mike Hanle y (mike), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 06:37 (twenty-two years ago)

you make Kansas City sound so cool ... more cool than Boston, in fact

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 06:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course of your recordings. I don't barter with just ANYONE you know.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 06:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Kansas City has a lot of charm. All the white people moved to Overland Park, a digusting capitalist ghetto /suburb. But here in midtown there is a lot fo nice things, great barbecue, Jazz history(well , actually that downtown) neat record stores, independent video stores, etc. .

Ok Kim, email m e your address. You too Tad, and I shall make thee have cds. In fact, I am going to buy stamps of 3$ variety today because I can never get to the post office to mail things

Feeling the Starbucks guilt?

Buy your coffee through Fair Trade, they are reknowned for their buying-from-local-growers policy, they don't pesticize their beans out-the-yin-yang, and, even more than that, IT'S F'N TASTY!!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 12 December 2002 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

There is no such thing as "too much coffee"

I once overdosed on tea during an all-nighter, but it wasn't easy. And as a result I had some of the nastiest cramps ever.

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 12 December 2002 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i love tea but i switch to horlicks 9 hrs before i need to be up.
this means that - da-da ! - am asleep 8 hrs before i need to wake.
zonks you right out does horlicks, esp with sodium pentathol in it.

I had to give up caffeine a few years ago b/c I could never get a good night's sleep. I was tense and headachey all the time.
But I miss loaded coffee... (and Coke!)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 12 December 2002 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

You get headaches if you stop drinking coffee I noticed. It does the body bd

Mike Hanle y (mike), Saturday, 14 December 2002 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Those headaches are caused by withdrawal, if you've gotten addicted to caffeine.

j.lu (j.lu), Saturday, 14 December 2002 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Er, I humbly take back my previous statement concerning too much caffeine : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2570525.stm

Queen G (Queeng), Saturday, 14 December 2002 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 09:33 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah, i drink mostly tea these days, 'cause it's easier to make ... it's also a holdover from l-school, where the cafeteria coffee was absolutely disgusting

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 09:46 (twenty-two years ago)
