I've got my exams the next 2 weeks, and they are going to suck. Not so much for my lack of understanding, but because of the pressure put on the tests. Most of my work for the past three months is loaded onto 3 to 5 problems in three of my classes.
And for me someone who cracks easily under pressure it feels so unfair. I have the knowledge, but not the correct mental state.

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

what drugs can I take? Ritalin?

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

RedBull and pizza.

Trucker Speed from the roadhouse if you must.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 19:39 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
ok so I didn't want to be a lawyer but now I kinda do and I need to take an exam in a course which (theoretically) I haven't done ('evidence') and I think I'm going to have to learn it all in under a month all for the privilege of moving to ABERDEEN. not ABERDEEN, seattle. : /

cºzen (Cozen), Sunday, 8 August 2004 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

either give me support or talk me out of it.

cºzen (Cozen), Sunday, 8 August 2004 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

you can probably handle the exam. do you want to go to aberdeen? are you about to do somethng that might make you miserable because you're in a job panic?

lauren (laurenp), Sunday, 8 August 2004 19:52 (twenty-one years ago)

um not really I don't think. I can handle the exam, yeah, easy. and it's only aberdeen fr 26 weeks, which could be ok (though I know v. v. little about aberdeen). and being a lawyer = duuude innit.

cºzen (Cozen), Sunday, 8 August 2004 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

that sounds alright. go forth to aberdeen, then.

lauren (laurenp), Sunday, 8 August 2004 20:02 (twenty-one years ago)

though obviously I am in job panic (I almost became an accountant!) (which roughly translates: as don't really want a tide-over job coupled w. want independence & money so I can go to stuff like cologne etc.)

cºzen (Cozen), Sunday, 8 August 2004 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

rogue colon.

cºzen (Cozen), Sunday, 8 August 2004 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

rogue cologne.

tide-over jobs are really depressing unless you want a break. if you want to be in law, you're probably best off going in that direction sooner rather than later.

lauren (laurenp), Sunday, 8 August 2004 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

and being a lawyer = duuude innit

not with those silly wigs that the brit barrister have to wear, it isn't.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 8 August 2004 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

my main problem, and I'm just bitching and moaning now really, is I'm a fickle GEMINI and fr the second part of the diploma (aberdeen) you have to state a traineeship thus locking you in fr the next 4 years to law. you can't just get the diploma and rest on it for a year or so. but yeah as I say, I have to make the decision. gah.

x-post

we're still (officially) in mourning.

cºzen (Cozen), Sunday, 8 August 2004 20:10 (twenty-one years ago)

You know you'll ace the exam, so that's not a consideration. Tying yourself somewhere for four years is a big deal, but if it's the career you want, and that seems a very good career, it's worth it. You just need to find the right place - and I would think you have every advantage in being able to pick and choose, so just think carefully about that aspect.

one thing I remember about my finals is how I went teetotal during the summer term to help me revised, which meant of course the heavy duty bouzing which followed me finishing my exams hit me particularly hard!
