A Makeover Story on Discovery Health. It's dire, but it keeps pulling me in around lunchtime.

"Ooooh my Gaaaad. You're HAIR! It's awsome, everything is awsome, you look so awesome! Oh my Gaaaaad!"

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Hollyoaks.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

world's deadliest police chases (and variations on that theme). It should be fucking banned but I can't turn it off if I accidently catch it. One of those shows does these crazy montages of just crazy accidents like stadium balconies collapsing with no explanation. And they all seem to be on around 4pm, when a lot of latchkey kids would be watching TV. Fuckin' sick.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Now Is The Time - Night Of Combat - Kickboxing on Channel 5. Most compellingly terribly made telly programme ever. Last night's episode was OK till the last fifteen minutes, and I know it gets repeated at ten past five on Monday mornings, so watch from about quarter to six onwards next Monday. It will be worth it, believe...

Queen G (Queeng), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't really have trouble admitting this, and it's not bad TV, but I love Oswald the octopus on Nick Jr. It's soo soothing to watch.

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Home decorating shows. Sometimes- dating, marrying, and baby shows. You know, I hit the whole domestic circuit.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

doomie came over the other night and caught me indulging in my secret shame...

I thought it was to be teenboy rump surfing.

No matter how bad tv is I just wanted to point out the Arsenal commentary on soccernet right now is pretty dense.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

can't decide if I'm going to watch that FOX show where they take a bunch of single women to meet a hunky millionaire at his manse - only to reveal to them later that he actually only makes $19,000 a year.

I'm sure I'll feel disgusted for having watched it afterwards, but hey, that's what showers are for, right?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that show for real? It sounds wonderful.

WHO IS OUT FOR LOVE?
WHO IS IN IT FOR MONEY?
THE ANSWERS WILL BE REVEALED ON 'JOE MILLIONAIRE'

SERIES PREMIERES MONDAY, JANUARY 6, ON FOX

Romance and reality intertwine as 20 women travel to France for a whirlwind romance with a man whom they think is a dashing millionaire. What will happen when the truth is finally revealed that he is a just a regular "Joe" and his wealth is a facade? Will his true love accept him for who he is, or reject him in search of greener pastures? As this handsome, young, eligible man begins his search for "The One," he discovers which of these women are out for true love and which are just interested in his bank account in JOE MILLIONAIRE, the new, seven-episode, unscripted drama series from the creators of the hit series "Temptation Island," premiering Monday, January 6 (9:00 PM-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

In actuality, "Joe Millionaire" is a construction worker raised in humble surroundings with only limited financial security. However, the 20 women who have been whisked off to a beautiful chateau in the French countryside believe that "Joe" has recently inherited 50 million dollars and is looking for a special someone to share his newfound wealth. "Joe," in the ultimate fantasy setting, will be introduced to women that due to his social standing he would not be able to meet in his everyday life. Among the beautiful, smart and sophisticated women gathered are a doctor, banker and business development executive.

Over the course of his stay at the chateau, "Joe" will court each of the women. As he woos them with romantic horseback rides through the countryside, wine-making at the estate's vineyard, private dinners at the Eiffel Tower and unique and priceless gifts, "Joe" will grapple with the difficulty of maintaining his million dollar charade. As the series progresses, "Joe" ultimately narrows his choice to one woman and must finally reveal the truth about his month-long masquerade and his real financial standing to her.

Will his chosen companion reject him once she learns the truth, or will true love win out?

JOE MILLIONAIRE is produced by Rocket Science Laboratories. Jean-Michel Michenaud and Chris Cowan serve as Executive Producers. Liz Bronstein is Co-Executive Producer, Roberto Cardenas is supervising producer.

Diagnosis Murder. Right now on BBC1.

Alfie (Alfie), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahaha is Alfie the Alfire from Eastenders (strike one!)?

Geoff - Passions EXISTS?? I thought it was just a joke on Buffy!!

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm, being compared to Shane Richie won't be making the 'best compliment you have received this wk' thread.

Alfie (Alfie), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:34 (twenty-two years ago)

But Alfie Moon is my latest TV crush! He is smashing and great.

Emma, Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I've only just become fully aware he's who Shane Ritchie is playing. He's fantastic, isn't he?

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

YES only I haven't seen Eastenders for MONTHS cos of being forced to go on holiday / to the pub. I miss it. I cannot wait for the omnibus. And the Xmas day one.

Emma, Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Not Shane! Alfie! Or, Al-FIRE, his SUPERHERO ALTER-EGO!! RoX0r!

Awight Duchess?

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Has Shane Richie managed to go sooo far down the tacky entertainer route that he's made it out the other side into cool?

Alfie (Alfie), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Parker Lewis Can't Lose

dave225 (Dave225), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 16:56 (twenty years ago)

Two weeks after commenting to friends about how puzzled I was that Johnny Vegas kept landing sitcom roles when everything he's touched has crashed and burned, I find myself watching "Dead Man Weds" and "Ideal". Both star Johnny Vegas. Both are mediocre sitcoms short on gags. Both will probably sink without trace after a single series. Oh well.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 17:03 (twenty years ago)

Wow. The days when I thought Time Team was bad TV. This was before I got addicted to crack Hollyoaks, clearly.

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

hollyoaks is sublime. yesterday i saw three episodes thanks to e4's catch up and first look options.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 17:10 (twenty years ago)

Man, I have to wait for the Sunday Omnibus to find out what's been going on. I'm sick of the Becca-Jake-Lisa triangle already. I want more Bombhead! And I don't like new, sensitive Justin, either. I liked him better when he was a bastard drug addict.

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 17:12 (twenty years ago)

while i'm loath to criticize the general perfection of the show, i have to say that i'd be happier without so much zara. or indeed, any zara at all. i fucking hate zara.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 17:15 (twenty years ago)

I think that Zara is crucial in her annoyingness. She provides a comedic counterpart to the relentless hedonism of the other students. That said, she's almost a parody of the annoyingly PC student. But I think that's the point...

Dammit, Lauren, you and I should just start our own Hollyoaks thread or something.

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 17:16 (twenty years ago)

I see that I was a Hollyoaks girl when this thread was started. Do I miss it? Can't say I do really. I certainly can't believe that Zara's still in it.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 17:18 (twenty years ago)

heh.

The Hollyoaks Thread! has been started, kate.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 17:21 (twenty years ago)

which one's zara? is she the welsh one?

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 17:22 (twenty years ago)

yeah wrong thread oops.

T+2.5 til 10 pin bowling!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 17:23 (twenty years ago)

i mean -2.5

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 17:23 (twenty years ago)

Oddly, the 'bad' TV I miss most is snooker and Wimbledon, even though watching sport probably only accounted for like 0.5% of my total viewing. So relaxing, I think that was it.
