Who is doing THE most boring job at this precise moment in time?

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

not me, i get to read ILE.

g-kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

ditto

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

But if our jobs weren't boring, why would we be reading and posting to ILE? My main task yesterday was particularly zen-like in its tedium though: retyping, printing and laminating all our official notcies...

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i love my job! i wouldnt swap it for anything (except cartography)

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

What do you do, gareth?

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I fustrated with work at the moment.
For once I wish the hippies had smashed the capitalist machinery, or at least Betlzeburg. Then I'd be out of a job but hey, I wouldnt have to deal with it.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm at home, it's cold. If I was at work, I'd probably be sticking labels in books.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:41 (twenty-two years ago)

really? you can perform open heart surgery? (um, monkey island 2, anyone?)

g-kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Ordinarily, I'd say my job is fairly boring (I do security for footie matches and concerts), but this week has been pretty cool. If only that I didn't have to freeze my arse in the cold, as per usual;>

Jel, there are worse ways to make a few pence....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Jel, there are worse ways to make a few pence....

yeah, wanking for buttons is pretty low.

g-kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

What do you do, gareth?

datacomms

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Not if you really need buttons!

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

buttons is a pervert isn't he?

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:50 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, he was always after cinderella, if memory serves.

g-kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Fneh, too depressing to answer... I am avoiding making up some files, whilst other people do Important Stuff. *sigh*

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i do 15 minutes of real work a week, the rest of the time i listen to music and go outside and smoke. and im a manager. hehehe... but i do get bored after a while.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris, you're my new role model

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Amazing, I shouldn't have said that above. i just got a call from my boss and he wants me to pick up 100 more clients. GREAT!

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I am delaying calling a phone company to get boss's phone replaced and complain about it as much as possible. He wants me to use phrases like, "EXTREMELY disappointed in this phone!" and to demand a new phone "YESterDAY!". ha ha

I think I'll make my lunch first (creamy potato soup in a cup)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

...wait...my boss calls...shit

I undoubtedly have the most boring job right now. Normally, it's not so bad - I get to shop and look at books, but we're so backlogged right now that all I'm doing is data entry. I do get to listen to music all day, though....

Kerry (dymaxia), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 20:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Copy editing biographies of pop musicians all day should be fun. Key word being SHOULD.

Aaron W, Wednesday, 11 December 2002 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

My friend Tim B, occasionally seen here, claims that his job is "filing paperclips". I think he exaggerates somewhat, but he makes it sound pretty uninspiring.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
What's going on? Are ILXors who post at work doing actual factual work right now? The posts seem to have slowed down a bit over the past couple of hours...

What if this decrease in posting actually motivates me to do some work myself? I think I will!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I've just been busy trawling through the threads and waiting for someone to show up for some training (sorta).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't post from work anymore! :( and sorta :)

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I am currently moderating Sky's interactive TV computer games chatroom. Please stop by!

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

My job is the most boring in the world, I win. I am supposedly a "technical clerk" but at the moment all I do is archive and file - it sucks ass!

smee (smee), Thursday, 6 February 2003 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I wouldn't say that I'm so much bored as I am prancing around on hot coals today. My boss has been really on edge and makes me jumpy. Plus, he keeps saying things like, "We have a LOT of work today," which is never v. soothing.

But - happy me - he's actually out of the office now for lunch. WOO HOO!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 6 February 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris, as you (just like everyone else) is brainwashed, you'll soon feel GUILTY about it all. Well, no, I do. I feel guilty for reading Dawn Till Decadence (and learning Japanese and lace) during work.

nathalie (nathalie), Thursday, 6 February 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

seven months pass...
Could a machine feasibly perform the tasks you are performing at this moment?

adaml (adaml), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think so, unless they've invented a machine that wastes time on the internet.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

In which case, we're all fucked.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Man, that would be a hard sell.

adaml (adaml), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:55 (twenty-two years ago)

INTERNETSCANOTRON9001 (adaml), Monday, 29 September 2003 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi I am not the Amazing Randy

stevem (blueski), Monday, 29 September 2003 20:05 (twenty-two years ago)

my job is certainly not boring anymore. no clockwatching, looking busy work here anymore. this is the only advantage teaching has over office jobs.

The downside to that is there's just *too* much sometimes. I'm tired. can't think. kids still here an hour after school. *sigh*

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Monday, 29 September 2003 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm entering my boss' billing.

Kill me.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 29 September 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i think i'm going to miss not having a job

stevem (blueski), Monday, 29 September 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish a machine could do my job. I could dress it up in a red wig and glasses, and go off to read the paper - I daresay anyone would notice the difference :-(

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 05:17 (twenty-two years ago)

No clothing, Trayce?

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 06:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought MY office was casual!
