jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:42 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Two flights to Edinburgh.

Two tickets to Readin 1994.

Two tickets to Glastonbury 1995.

A unlimited film pass to the 1997 Dublin FIlm Festival.

That's about it. Plenty of free packets of Walkers Crisps.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

A CD player and a bottle of vodka. Oh but that was in a raffle. I don't enter competitions as such.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

-a bottle of blue face cream which made me break out in a rash. (aged about 7, at a meeting of my dad's local labour party)

-tickets to see sid & nancy at the spectrum theatre (thanks, WRPI, local college radio)

-tickets to see the toasters in albany, but they wouldn't let me and my "sister" in due to us being 3 months underage. grrrrrr. so we took shedloads of speed, drove to manchester, vt. and started a band instead. which was probably better in the long run than seeing a ska band...

kate, Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Hiya, Pete....yup, I've actually been let out of my coffin, this week....;>

Anyhoo, I've won: concerts, gift certificates to Amazon, movie passes, and a bit of cash....oh, and free packets of Walkers Crisps.

That's this year....

Before that, I'd won CDs, stickers and some clothes

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

And then there were tickets to Glasto (2-3 years ago?) and to Woodstock in New York, where I was living at the time.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I won tickets to see all the Beyond Nashville shows in london, but I was away for every single one. They also sent me a poster, a t-shirt, and Steve Earle's book!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I've won the occasional pub quiz with friends.
The only other thing I can remember winning was from a computer magazine a very, very long time ago, I won a Howard The Duck poster.

But I didn't get it, they sent me a different poster instead because they claimed to have 'ran out of stock'. Instead I got a 'Quartet' poster which was utter shite.

Fuzzy (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

a 7-language dictionary

a very tall bottle full of jellybeans

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Mr Men lunchbox, cruddy Lipcote lipcare stuff, FANTASTIC free trolley dash style go at our sample sale at work where I managed to nab about £900 of lovely frocks in 15 mins. I think this is one of the top 5 moments of my year. If not my life.

Emma, Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh! and i forgot, winning the abbey road EP by Spiritualized. though considering who the webmaster was at the time, I think that might have been fixed... ;-)

kate, Wednesday, 11 December 2002 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

it has to be competitions you 'entered' so Walkers crisps and the like dont count ;)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

A 1981 Royal Wedding mug, in a tombola in about 1986

A copy of a Lyal Watson book, from a Fortean Times competition.

That's it, I think. My mum has won two stereo systems in the past three or four years, the jammy tart.

caitlin (caitlin), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

A Blue Peter Badge. No, seriously, I won a Blue Peter Badge as one of the 50 runners up in a competition. Expo '82, to be precise, for which, in a bid to save rocket fuel, I designed a rocket that ran on compressed air. Kind of like a balloon does when you let it go. Unfortunately, no-one told me that you'd need a fuck-off huge engine to get all the compressed air in there that you'd need to get into orbit - so it wouldn't save very much fuel at all, really. Still, the judges liked it, so I got free entrance to the Jorvik Viking Museum (amongst other similarly edificating places) for life. Call that a prize, BBC? Jebus........

lol p xx, Wednesday, 11 December 2002 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and I entered various categories in the Grimsby Recorder Festival, and came in the top three places a few times. No interesting prizes though, just certificates.

And £8 from a short story competition organised by North-East Lincolnshire Council.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Won a copy of Queen's 'The Works' on the Piccadilly Radio breakfast show in 1984. Had to name 10 Queen singles that had made the top 10, so I just read them out from my handy copy of the Guinness Book of Hit Singles. At which point the DJ twigged how I got the answer cos he was using the same book to check them. But he still let me have it.
