I need help on how to design a decent flyer that will attract the new Sexus. We're based in the North-West, Manc - Liverpool and the scrotey little suburbs in between. I want to avoid any of the baggage associated with this area, no nod to baggy; 60s beat groups or Joy Division. I know the most important thing about a label is establishing a niche so lets say I'm aiming for sparkly well-dressed erudite pop, preferably without guitars. How can I sum all this up in a few mean phrases without sounding shit?
Also, if anyone has a cute little picture of anything that would look good in the corner of this flyer then please please please give a link.

Cheers James, I'll check it now. I think you should post to the Shirt thread, btw. There're people claiming that t-shirts are the only way!

Ok, just found out that Affectrecords.com has gone. Some show-off american kid with a fancy site has nabbed it so I need a new name. Any offers? And is 'New School Of Pretension' really better than 'Affect'? Is it?

you know what? do your own work and your own research instead of trying to get ile to do it for you. hire a fucking artist. show some originality. don't just take cheap shots at other posters for daring to be flippant on YOUR THREAD.

(Though I think you should be aiming a little higher than looking for 'the new Sexus')
(Haha but if you DO find the new Sexus, please tell me)
(ps Kate, this IS his own research)

That is so blatantly untrue as to be absurd. The outfit worn on the inside of The Queen Is Dead featured a Body Map top, designed by David Holah, one of Leigh Bowery's mates. In late 1985, when this was shot, was absolute Hyper Hyper height of fashion! Morrissey also did the big-E Levi's fetish *years* before others, and was rumoured to have been asked to do catwalk for Comme des Garçons in the same kind of time frame.
Although it has to be said: my friend went to Beverly Hills to interview Marilyn Manson and Morrissey was at the hotel wearing nothing but a tan and some horrible Speedos. My friend was unhappy about the Speedos, very unhappy.

But none of this suggests even for a second that Morrissey is well-dressed!

*blinks*
I umm, got the Moz ref. BUT ANYWAY
Well secretly I want the new OMD but I'll settle for Sexus. I dunno if to take affectrecords.co.uk and risk chumps mixing it up with the .com one.
Pin, suggest some more Eno-y wordy words for me. New School Of Pretension is growing on me but Pretension is a bit of a rubbish word.
I don't like Stephen Patrick's dress sense at all. Bare chest and flowery shirt? Ugh.
Nabisco, I like how Affect will confound people. I also like how Affect will be near the top of the alphabetical list of labels, which means people will see it first on a list. And that's gotta be good right? Effect makes me think of Special Effects which is a bit pap.

Moz doesn't look half bad there actually, though he is with fowl and it looks a bit like he's wearing one of those awful frilly shirts.
