What is your favorite song from _The Muppet Movie_?

"The Rainbow Connection" was always my sentimental favorite, but I think these days I'll either have to go for "Movin' Right Along" (for the banjo and the chorus) and "Can You Picture That?," just because it finally gives Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem a chance to fully rock out.

The astronomy geek in me in 1979 or so absolutely loved the line "Aurora Borealis/SHINING DOWN ON DALLAS!" -- the more so because I thought to myself, "That's silly, Dallas is too far south for that!" Which I suppose was part of the point of the song, I guess.

"It's Not Easy Being Green"

My first album ever, when I was 4 or 5, purchased on cassette by my parents for me. I'm sure if I listened to it now it would reduce me to fetal position.

Remember the Miss Piggy over-the-top diva moment of "Never Before, Never Again"? Awful but wonderful.

Movin' Right Along is great, but "I Hope That Something Better Comes Along" is honorable mention.

I had that as a child too.
Miss Piggy song was my favourite.
I played it over and over.
It seems logical now I would
become a Marc Almond fan
as a teenager.

I liked the movie very much too.

god but 'movin right along' is great isn't it ?

piscesboy, Thursday, 12 December 2002 23:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't listened to that in a really long time, hold on... yeah, this is great. "Movin Right Along" and "Can You Picture That" are the obvious high points. Dr. Teeth's "Tenderly" is even better though. I think that's on the first Muppets album, which I don't have on vinyl, only tape...

I've no idea which album it is on, or whether indeed it was ever in a muppets movie, but The Great Gonzo Eating A Rubber Tyre To The Music Of The Flight Of The Bumblebee has a special place in my heart.

Great topic, LOL. :-)

"I Hope That Somethin' Better Comes Along" gets my vote. I always thought Rowlf was the coolest Muppet.

'can you picture that' and 'movin right along' are my favorites, definitely.

Lovely!

This movie genuinely sustains a permanent place in my all-time top ten. And all of the songs are great, but the very end of 'The Magic Store', particularly as the camera is pulling back to reveal every Muppet ever, never fails to give me chills.
