Sean (Sean), Sunday, 15 December 2002 05:07 (twenty-two years ago)

chaki (chaki), Sunday, 15 December 2002 05:39 (twenty-two years ago)

saw the box at a wrecka stow tonite while Xmas shopping and was tempted to pick it up till I saw the price tag. "They're charging $20 a disc for it online," explained my friendly retailer (the stow charged $57.99 + tax). "No wonder no one likes him now," I replied. Later I told this to Andy B. (at a lousy Felix da Housecat DJ set, redeemed mostly by our friend Carrie having the best time, like, ever) and he summed it up nicely: "What a dick." (I still wanna hear it, of course.)

M Matos (M Matos), Sunday, 15 December 2002 11:16 (twenty-two years ago)

it comes with a really nice book, a poster and an extra solo piano cd. so its really a 4 cd box set for $60. how come no one complains with joy division does it?

chaki (chaki), Sunday, 15 December 2002 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

!!! I might have to just get this very thing today from Best Buy or something, and damn the cost.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 15 December 2002 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

because J.D. aren't putting it out on a DIY label and talking about how record companies are evil and then turning around and charging MORE PER DISC than any record company does. I didn't know about the bonus disc, so I guess it adds up OK then (though there's nothing on the box's package, that I saw at least, that mentioned the fourth disc, leading folks who don't know otherwise to think, "Oh he's ripping us off fugg'im"). but, uh, "nice books" are generally accepted as part and parcel with box sets (see: every other box set in existence, practically) so why we should accept that as something to be charged extra for is beyond me.

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 16 December 2002 07:52 (twenty-two years ago)

also, I have much the same opinion of things like the Joy Division and Phil Spector boxes retailing for far more than their counterparts; it's not just Prince here, Chaki

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 16 December 2002 07:53 (twenty-two years ago)

ok i got it sent to me for being in the npg music club so i guess shouldnt whine.
