What is the BEST Game Boy Advance game?

I gotta get my 6-year-old brother a Christmas present. He wants mario sunshine, but I don't have the heart to tell him that it's only on gamecube. Do you think he'll be fooled by another mario game? Like one of those ports of the old NES games maybe? Oh, but nothing too, uh, advanced, you know, 'cause he's 6 and all.

Warioland is quite fun.

Sonic Advance, it's got good reviews, but one of my pal's says it's too easy and gets boring quite quickly.

I think Super Mario 3: Yoshi's Island is supposed to be good. (Mario 2 is rubbish, I hate it)

You can't really go wrong with Mario Kart.

Tony Hawk, f'r Chrissakes! Tony Hawk Pro Skater!

Mario Kart Advance

meirion john lewis (mei), Sunday, 15 December 2002 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Yoshi's Island is the best game ever, and quite easy too, the only trouble is that as a 6 year old he'll expect his subsequent gaming experiences to match its goodness. If anyone here has a relative with a GBA and they're stuck for a Christmas present... honestly, there's so much imagination here, the skiing levels alone are worth the price of admission.

Mike (mratford), Sunday, 15 December 2002 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

If you're in the states, Zelda - Link To The Past is supposed to be great. If you're not, uh, I don't know.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Sunday, 15 December 2002 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm with John; Hawke, for sure.

OCP (OCP), Monday, 16 December 2002 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

THPS, deffo. it's glued in my GBA.

g-kit (g-kit), Monday, 16 December 2002 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

well, GTA3 is coming to the gb in a month or so

(you need to see little kids playing GTA3 to believe it! they shriek with pure elemental glee)

bob zemko (bob), Monday, 16 December 2002 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I heard it had been cancelled Bob? THPS though = deffo

chris (chris), Monday, 16 December 2002 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, an old one, but I don't think you can beat a good game of Bust-A-Move (Puzzle Bobble in some countries)

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Monday, 16 December 2002 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

How can GTA3 fit on a gameboy advance?

Al_Ewing, Tuesday, 17 December 2002 00:30 (twenty-two years ago)

They're changing it from a cd to cartridge

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I meant in terms of all the data. It's immense. They'd have to cut loads out, unless things have advanced to the point where I am an old dork who understands nothing of computers.

Al Ewing (Al Ewing), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

They shrunk everything.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 20:57 (twenty-two years ago)

So it would fit in the cartridge.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 20:57 (twenty-two years ago)

you play with a magnifying glass.

big chaki (chaki), Sunday, 3 October 2004 02:21 (twenty-one years ago)

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS ADVANCE

Laura E (laurae55), Sunday, 3 October 2004 04:09 (twenty-one years ago)

golden sun 1 & 2. best games in quite a while.

darragh.mac (darragh.mac), Sunday, 3 October 2004 04:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i want mario golf and i want it now

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 4 October 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Wario Ware is essential. The Gamecube version's pretty ace too.

Hayden (Pow, Pow, Pow) (haitch), Monday, 4 October 2004 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (I think that's the one I have) are all fabulous. Other than that, yeah, it doesn't get any better than WarioWare. Not only is it a great game, but it INCLUDES Dr. Mario!

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 4 October 2004 00:36 (twenty-one years ago)

IT DOES?!?!?!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 4 October 2004 00:37 (twenty-one years ago)

you people are crazy. the BEST is Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2. its like a cute war board game with twee tanks, adorable anti-aircraft guns, and happy helicopters.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 4 October 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i love u guyz

big chaki (chaki), Monday, 4 October 2004 01:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Except Advance Wars 2 is HARD, not fun. And then you feel even worse for spending half an hour not being able to take out those happy helicopters.

Yeah, I was playing WarioWare on a road trip to NYC once, and I completed about half the levels and unlocked MY FAVORITE GAME IN THE WORLD. The joy was indescribable.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 4 October 2004 02:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree about Advance Wars being great and also about Advance Wars 2 being hard (but it's fun too). I beat the first one well enough, but I just got totally stuck at about the 3/4 mark on the second.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Monday, 4 October 2004 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck now you got me started playing it again!

Dan I. (Dan I.), Monday, 4 October 2004 04:32 (twenty-one years ago)

advance warses rule!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 4 October 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Metroid Fusion and Zelda and Mario Kart are the only ones I still own.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Monday, 4 October 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

im playing the new Star Wars Trilogy game and now im going to download Mario Pinball Party

big chaki (chaki), Monday, 4 October 2004 17:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that game any good? I've heard it's not, but I could probably be entertained by mindless Star Warsness.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 4 October 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

its great if you dont pay for it.

big chaki (chaki), Monday, 4 October 2004 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

FFTA is supposed to be maddeningly great, with thousands of hours of possible playtime. but i always get bored and quit after playing for 5 mins.

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Monday, 4 October 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I kinda want Super Mario 2 for it, and also the new Metroid. And other games that are really piss easy because I'm shit at games.

Zelda: The Minish Cap

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 10 January 2005 14:10 (twenty years ago)

anybody here played Fire Emblem or Onimusha Tactics?

TOMBOT, Monday, 10 January 2005 15:46 (twenty years ago)

I got a lovely NES Advance for Christmas, with Zelda: The Minish Cap. It is lovely and charming and you can talk to cats.

Suedey (John Cei Douglas), Monday, 10 January 2005 16:05 (twenty years ago)

Hey dudes,

I'm currently ordering some games (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Final Fantasy I + II, Zelda: The Minish Cap and one other), and I have narrowed my last choice down to Warioware or Mario + Luigi: Superstar Saga. Which would you recommend?

thx

webber (webber), Tuesday, 11 January 2005 03:44 (twenty years ago)

For some reason I just wasn't quite able to get into Fire Emblem, but I keep meaning to go back to it. I really seemed to enjoy it, but it couldn't keep my attention somehow.

Oh, and Warioware, Warioware, Warioware.

The Yellow Kid, Tuesday, 11 January 2005 05:29 (twenty years ago)

Warioware!!!

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 11 January 2005 05:46 (twenty years ago)

do the GBA emulators have some sort of netplay so we can advance wars against each other? or warioware?

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 11 January 2005 08:05 (twenty years ago)

I've only just gotten around to buying a Gameboy advance, so I've only got one game and that's the new Zelda (it's been out here for some time from the looks of things). I'm hooked though, it's ace. I've just been lent Sonic Advance 3, but I'm going to let Zelda have it's run before trying that one out.

I've been looking at Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town too - is that good?

Patrick Allan (adr), Tuesday, 11 January 2005 08:16 (twenty years ago)

phil: no :( :(

I LOST MY ADVANCE WARS 2 AND I WANT TO CRY

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 5 March 2005 01:24 (twenty years ago)

Fucking damn it, I'm all the way at the three knights you have to beat with a time limit just before fighting the last boss in Minish Cap and I can't fucking do it! Once I beat both the red guys, but I don't see how to beat the black one too in the time they give you.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Saturday, 5 March 2005 01:31 (twenty years ago)

I am stuck on advance wars 1 so much.
