Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 15 December 2002 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

The ass mucous emporium!

Queen G (Queeng), Sunday, 15 December 2002 06:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 15 December 2002 06:41 (twenty-two years ago)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Sunday, 15 December 2002 07:11 (twenty-two years ago)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Sunday, 15 December 2002 07:11 (twenty-two years ago)

no! keep trying.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 15 December 2002 08:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Eagle Boys, Dominos, Pizza Haven, Froggy's

Queen G (Queeng), Sunday, 15 December 2002 08:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I know I know

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 15 December 2002 08:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought it'd be easier. Andrew can't answer he's not Australian.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 15 December 2002 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

why do you torment us? is it not bad enough we're atill part of the commonwealth yet sucking at theleaky anus of the US? Why do you compound our misery of having a miniature mini me with little substance but mucho schrewdness leading us down the path of ignorant apocalyptic banality? Why, damn you, why?

Queen G (Queeng), Sunday, 15 December 2002 09:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll give you a clue it's a frozen pizza.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 15 December 2002 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Uh, this thread sucks.

OCP (OCP), Sunday, 15 December 2002 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

McCains.
But I gotta say, I find it repugnant, however I've never been a huge pizza fan.

nellie (minna), Sunday, 15 December 2002 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

!!! nellie is that really you?? i thought you loved the pizza as much as i do!

minna (minna), Sunday, 15 December 2002 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

my good friend from australia sez that pizza from australia is the best and that even the best pizza he has had in america cannot possibly compare to the glory that is australian pizza: is this true? apparently it has something to do with toppings.

geeta (geeta), Sunday, 15 December 2002 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

in australia they use dream topping

mark s (mark s), Sunday, 15 December 2002 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

The best pizza in the Australia, and therefore the world, is the Green Pizza from Earth & Sea Pizza in Byron Bay. The second best is anything from Sabatino's on Hawthorn Road in South Caulfield.

toraneko (toraneko), Sunday, 15 December 2002 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Clearly I have some pizza investigating to do upon my return.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 15 December 2002 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

FLouriopty

Mike Hanle y (mike), Sunday, 15 December 2002 21:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Best pizzas in Melbourne: Topolino's in St. Kilda, and Ferrari in Oakleigh.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 15 December 2002 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't stand Topolino's - they are always soggy and they think that ham or mushroom, if veg, should be as thick and ubiquitious as the shag on a shag-pile carpet. Last pizza I had there, the base was still uncooked-doughy.

Best food on Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, is the Chocolate Hedgehog at the asian bakery down past 7-11 that's open 24 hrs on weekends. I dream about that stuff.

toraneko (toraneko), Monday, 16 December 2002 02:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Sounds crap.

I live just down the street from the North Carlton La Porchetta (mafia AS!) which is cheap and, well, okay so I've not tended to bother with anything else...

OCP (OCP), Monday, 16 December 2002 02:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and I lived directly above the Sydney Rd. Pizza Hut in Brunswick last year and we got large pizzas for $5 each. Consequently we kind of lived on them...

OCP (OCP), Monday, 16 December 2002 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to deliver for Poci's in Hampton

Keith McD (Keith McD), Monday, 16 December 2002 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes they are soggy because they are overflowing with goodness. I like the challenge of trying to keep the Supreme from falling apart on its journey between the plate and my mouth.

I list Ferrari though for contrast, because it's the absolute best for that crisper 'classic' style.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 16 December 2002 05:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I respect your love of the Topolino-goodness although I do not concur with it. When we finally FAP (Fancy a Pizza), let's not go there. Or to Porchettas.

Let's go to the Blue Room in South Melbourne where they do pretentious pizza that tastes surprisingly good and where we can spot Aussie Rules players from Richmond and Hawthorn and studiously ignore them.

toraneko (toraneko), Monday, 16 December 2002 05:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Or, um, go somewhere completely different?

OCP (OCP), Monday, 16 December 2002 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Pinnochio's in Toorak Road is pretty good, and as a bonus is around the corner from my house - at least until I move out it is.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 16 December 2002 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i just read in mx that egg is the number one (whatever that means) pizza topping in australia! yuck! in the usa it is pepperoni and in chile they love mussels and clams. (incidentally nellie is misquoted on the issue of paid maternity leave a few pages later. they have also drastically misspelled her name.)

minna (minna), Monday, 16 December 2002 11:14 (twenty-two years ago)

we live not far from bellavita pizzeria, "best in the north west" - thousands of fox fm listeners can't be wrong...

minna (minna), Monday, 16 December 2002 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never seen nor heard of anyone having egg on a pizza. How fowl and disgusting it sounds. I don't think what you read is true.

I had dinner at one of the 3AW pubs of the year. The food was really good. Normally I boycott these places due to the 3AW endorsement.

toraneko (toraneko), Monday, 16 December 2002 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Normally I boycott these places due to the 3AW endorsement.

Why?

OCP (OCP), Monday, 16 December 2002 11:49 (twenty-two years ago)

what if stan zemanek went there too and you had to eat having recently seen his face?

minna (minna), Monday, 16 December 2002 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

What if stan zemanek was there and he ate you?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 16 December 2002 13:35 (twenty-two years ago)

haha see ocp the perils are great.

minna (minna), Monday, 16 December 2002 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Egg on pizza = surely grebt. Have none of you had a decent Fiorentina or summink? Madness.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 16 December 2002 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

3AW has no virtues. They are the radio station of scum.

toraneko (toraneko), Monday, 16 December 2002 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

indeed. save the hating for 3AW, not the poor eggy (which I had on pizza 3 nights ago mmmm)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Monday, 16 December 2002 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Yikes! Okay. I guess anything to avoid Stan...

OCP (OCP), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 00:36 (twenty-two years ago)

hilarious picture of Stan as a wombat (or was it the other way round?) in today's Age..

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

five years pass...

perfect thread title!
just wondering if there are any australians that have spent these past few days in the northern hemisphere this december? how have you found it?

it has been many many years for me. i still prefer the sunburnt sensation to that of seeing my breath in the air when i go outside. and kangaroos pulling a sleigh! yes!

o-ess, Thursday, 27 December 2007 00:50 (seventeen years ago)

I recommend pizza from Bimbos or from Lucky Coq (both run by the same mob, so same pizza stylee). Very thin bases, awesome toppings. At lunch you can get a pizza for $3 and a pot of Pipsqueak cider for $4. What more could you want?

Trayce, Thursday, 27 December 2007 06:12 (seventeen years ago)

how about the return of the fucken punters club!!

haitch, Thursday, 27 December 2007 08:07 (seventeen years ago)

hahaha

electricsound, Thursday, 27 December 2007 08:23 (seventeen years ago)

The best pizza I have ever had was in Adelaide! I can't remember where though :(

edwardo, Thursday, 27 December 2007 09:26 (seventeen years ago)

No Trayce, the pizza at Bimbos is definitely not that good. Pizza Meine Liebe in Northcote is actually pretty good for one of those pretentious pizza joints. The pizza joint near me is run by a guy called 'Rehab'!

S-, Thursday, 27 December 2007 10:17 (seventeen years ago)

i don't want to go to rehab's

electricsound, Thursday, 27 December 2007 10:23 (seventeen years ago)

Don't worry, they deliver.

S-, Thursday, 27 December 2007 10:34 (seventeen years ago)

stupid people.
i love Bimbos

o-ess, Thursday, 27 December 2007 12:05 (seventeen years ago)

Good pizza places in Adelaide include Aussie Pizza House (despite the name) and Marcellina's. Oh, and Good Life if you're some trendy hippy wanker.

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 27 December 2007 12:14 (seventeen years ago)

Aussie Pizza House! That was it. SO GOOD.

edwardo, Thursday, 27 December 2007 14:14 (seventeen years ago)

woodfired pizza is pretty gross

sunny successor, Thursday, 27 December 2007 14:59 (seventeen years ago)

They've discovered fire in the south y'all now, Sunny?

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 27 December 2007 15:15 (seventeen years ago)

Not yet, thank god!

sunny successor, Thursday, 27 December 2007 15:18 (seventeen years ago)

Ach, Trayce, I had no idea you were in Canberra on Boxing Day. You fail once again to prove your existence ;)

moley, Friday, 28 December 2007 07:32 (seventeen years ago)

thread idea: Moley, when/why did you stop believing in Trayce?

electricsound, Friday, 28 December 2007 07:33 (seventeen years ago)

If you all believe in me, I can fly.

Autumn Almanac, Friday, 28 December 2007 11:39 (seventeen years ago)

Trayce please come to Sydney to FAP. I am tossing up whether to visit Adelaide next year.

edwardo, Friday, 28 December 2007 12:17 (seventeen years ago)

Fuck Bimbos. Bring back The Punters Club!

SeekAltRoute, Friday, 28 December 2007 18:53 (seventeen years ago)

Trayce please come to Sydney to FAP. I am tossing up

Autumn Almanac, Saturday, 29 December 2007 01:32 (seventeen years ago)

Someone come to Adelaide for FAP, tossers! We'll have Australian Pizza House for dinner...

...which I did tonight. Because this thread has given me the idea to have it so I had to drive in 50 degree heat to the nearest one in North Adelaide. It was worth it and it was good, esp. with a bottle of Passiona.

King Boy Pato, Sunday, 30 December 2007 11:03 (seventeen years ago)

how great is passiona? i can buy a whole 600mls for $8ish here.

I LOVE YOU, PASSIONFRUIT SODA <3<3<3

sunny successor, Sunday, 30 December 2007 16:12 (seventeen years ago)

PASSIONA'S BACK

haitch, Sunday, 30 December 2007 16:23 (seventeen years ago)

Why isn't Passiona in Europe? I am sick of having the cherry ripe/coconut rough/double coat tim tams/vegemite/good muslie bars/hoards of flavoured milk/potato scallop 'why don't you have these ALSO conversation here.
Maybe it is just the food in general. My sister just also came back from Australia after another five year stint, and is close to depression every time she enters a supermarket. All of you go eat now!

o-ess, Sunday, 30 December 2007 20:05 (seventeen years ago)

Speaking of obscure soft drinks, here's as good a place as any to ask. My Perth b/f and friends are obsessed with finding this drink Kirks make called Kole Beer. It is common and well loved on the west coast but it has become apparent that it is a Perth only thing. We cant find it anywhere else, not even to buy online.

Anyone had this stuff/heard of it? Apparently its kind of their Coke, but tastes more like coke bottle lollies or something?

Trayce, Sunday, 30 December 2007 21:36 (seventeen years ago)

i've seen kola beer in melb on occasion, but it is definitely a specialist thing. it's quite nice, it's certainly not coke but i wouldn't want it to be

electricsound, Sunday, 30 December 2007 22:14 (seventeen years ago)

! Success! D'you recall where you've seen it? Certain supermarket chains? Sevs?

Trayce, Sunday, 30 December 2007 22:16 (seventeen years ago)

good question - off the top of my head i don't, but you occasionally see it in *.random corner store.. not helpful i know.. have you looked in the david jones food court? also places that like to stock moxie and similar drinks (and used to stock irn bru before it got better distro) might have it, like that lolly shop on mount dandenong

electricsound, Sunday, 30 December 2007 22:29 (seventeen years ago)

ooo good idea.

Trayce, Sunday, 30 December 2007 22:40 (seventeen years ago)

it's not the same thing, but try Curiosity Cola too. it has the coke bottle lolly kind of effect...all in a glass bottle! that's if you fail in your real search
http://www.fentimans.com/graphics/image_cola.gif

o-ess, Sunday, 30 December 2007 22:51 (seventeen years ago)

Kole Beer is fantastic - I grew up with it in Perth. And Sarsaparilla, Bitter Lemon, Pasito (YES!!!), Olde Stoney Ginger Beer and best of all RED CREAMING SODA!!! :)

Kole Beer used to be a Gest product until Kirks brought them out a few years ago, and Kirks is distributed by Coca-Cola (multi-national boo!!) Maybe a call to CC-Amatil in Melb is your best bet for retail outlets?

SeekAltRoute, Sunday, 30 December 2007 23:11 (seventeen years ago)

Hey Trayce, I'm going near that shop on Mount Dandenong today. Do you want me to get you some of that stuff if it's there (and if we go there)?

Autumn Almanac, Monday, 31 December 2007 00:23 (seventeen years ago)

Dudes who was Queen G?

S-, Monday, 31 December 2007 00:42 (seventeen years ago)

Adam: shit yeah, at least see if its there :) Dont go to too much trub but that'd be wicked, thank you so much.

Trayce, Monday, 31 December 2007 01:25 (seventeen years ago)

queen g was geoff p, a bawdy but very nice dude.. from sydney i think. don't know what happened to him tho

electricsound, Monday, 31 December 2007 01:53 (seventeen years ago)

Sorry Trayce, they don't have any.

Autumn Almanac, Monday, 31 December 2007 02:52 (seventeen years ago)

;_;

i reckon the best bet is to check a few supermarkets - kirks stuff seems pretty common so it's bound to be in a couple of your more adventurous supermarkets (unlike the shitty one in northcote i'm not going to anymore)

electricsound, Monday, 31 December 2007 03:23 (seventeen years ago)

http://ezyshop.com.au/shop.asp?terms=kole

electricsound, Monday, 31 December 2007 03:24 (seventeen years ago)

ok so that's in WA, but my point stands

electricsound, Monday, 31 December 2007 03:25 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah we already found the ezyshop link... they wont ship outside of WA =(

Kirks stuff is in Coles, but not that particular one! The Sars and the red creamy soda and the stoney ginger beer... weird.

Trayce, Monday, 31 December 2007 04:28 (seventeen years ago)

Oh btw thanks so much Adam :)

Trayce, Monday, 31 December 2007 04:28 (seventeen years ago)

There were two shops, and they both just had things like Tizer and Vimto. It was no effort, we were there anyway :)

Autumn Almanac, Monday, 31 December 2007 07:17 (seventeen years ago)

two years pass...

A year after this I went to Perth to discover that the northern burbs there are so overrun with Poms the supermarkets have things like IRN BRU, right there on the shelf in coles.

I miss Perth.

Sookie G Stackedgarten (Trayce), Thursday, 16 December 2010 10:34 (fourteen years ago)

irn bru is strictly a caledonian beverage, nae self respectin pom would drink it

nax arrrrrgh (nakhchivan), Thursday, 16 December 2010 10:47 (fourteen years ago)

Good point tha.

Sookie G Stackedgarten (Trayce), Thursday, 16 December 2010 10:50 (fourteen years ago)

Perth is gonna be a cheerful place for its Pom population in a coupla days

Sookie G Stackedgarten (Trayce), Thursday, 16 December 2010 10:58 (fourteen years ago)

yah rly Perth is gonna be the GRAVEYARD of yr great national game in a few days, carnival atmosphere a-comin'

schlomo replay (acoleuthic), Thursday, 16 December 2010 11:01 (fourteen years ago)

maybe trayce ended up in the real perth

much the same but probably colder

nax arrrrrgh (nakhchivan), Thursday, 16 December 2010 11:03 (fourteen years ago)

don't talk about fucken sport on this lovely thread

you could get Irn-Bru in supermarkets here for a few years, but it all dried up earlier this year. QGP told me the distributors went bust or something?

i'm assuming that it's tity boi, host of the mixtape (sic), Thursday, 16 December 2010 13:16 (fourteen years ago)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irn-Bru#Australia

In Australia, IRN-BRU was manufactured and distributed under licence by Occasio Australia Pty Ltd[11] until 2009. (...) Due to manufacturing and bottling issues, Occasio ceased local production in late 2009 and are now importing IRN-BRU directly from the UK, with stocks now seen on IGA and Coles shelves in Western Australia as of October 2010.

There's a South African one called Iron Brew which is nothing like Irn-Bru (so essentially this is a warning) but nonetheless delicious.

I mean Emma Watson Premier League fit (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 16 December 2010 21:35 (fourteen years ago)

they had the bru at my local coles for a while, then it went away ;_;

BUT the Bottle-o in Petersham has WKD Iron-Bru Flavoured Vodka Drinks going cheap!

generally, like all white girls in my experience (King Boy Pato), Thursday, 16 December 2010 22:31 (fourteen years ago)

ooh

midiverb II program 49 (electricsound), Thursday, 16 December 2010 22:41 (fourteen years ago)

cheap for a reason iirc

i'm assuming that it's tity boi, host of the mixtape (sic), Thursday, 16 December 2010 23:21 (fourteen years ago)

personally i would only mix it with whisky

midiverb II program 49 (electricsound), Thursday, 16 December 2010 23:25 (fourteen years ago)

Strange Crüt (Trayce), Friday, 17 December 2010 02:21 (fourteen years ago)

Did pizza in Melbourne really suck that much eight years ago, or did ILXors then have less taste than us cultured types now?

The Jolly Roget's Thesaurus (S-), Friday, 17 December 2010 06:26 (fourteen years ago)

Hah I had that same thought when I found this thread and revived it, and forgot to comment on that bit. I think maybe we at least didnt have so much awesome stuff then.
