My hate of marriage.

anthony, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My hate of mispelled words.

Martin, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Courgettes.

This admittedly 'inherited' only in the sense of them making me eat the things.

Tom, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

did i misspell irrational or inheireted. I do not run everything through a spell checker.

anthony, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Bad spelling
Using non-U words (toilet,settee,lounge etc)
Ben Kingsley
Art Malik

Nick, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't have any hatreds! I guess the closest is my inability to deal with short men.

Ally, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sponging, liar men and Glands For Dinner.

Seriously...never been given liver or kidneys at mealtimes. See no sense in changing this state of affairs. Oh, and parent harbors perfectly rational hatreds, only carried to extreme eg. Regis Philbin, Richard Dreyfuss.

suzy, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My mum hates SPACE!! The big empty black thing w.aliens and quasars. (But this I have Not inherited.)

mark s, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i have a lot of racism issues that I have to deal with daily...i kinda get screwed in my head a lot..oh yeah, self-hatred as well.

Geoff, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dirt and dust. I must clean! Yes, I do consider 'neatfreak' derogatory.

matthew, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hatred of Democrats from father.
Hatred of Republicans from mother.
Hatred of most third parties from being a teenager and figuring "oh why not hate everything while I'm at it."

Lyra, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Martin, you are to declare at once whether that was deliberate.

Nick, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I suspect it was someone trying to make me look stupid Nick. What they don't realise is that's the one thing I really don't need any help with.

Martin, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My absolute hated, fear and disgust at the thought of any sexual activity. In fact, both of my biological parents died virgins.

dave q, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Outer space is where you discover wonder, where you fight and never hurt Earth. If you stop believing this, your mood turns ugly". mark s, did your Mom stop believing? I secretly think that hating space is endearing.

rainy, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hippies (from Mom) and gossip (from Dad).

Tadeusz Suchodolski, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My brother hates hippies. I can't figure out why.

Lyra, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My parents hate hippies, but that's cos my mom's a disco drunk and my dad is a fascist.

Ally, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

it's cos hippies suk, duh.

Geoff, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yeah, hello, I know that, hippies are awful. They smell like patchouli.

Ally, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

anthony, hatred of marriage is NOT irrational!

i hate rich people thanx to my oldz. i also was a homophobic but as a self-confirmed fag-hag i obviously managed to overcome that one.

lady die, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My dad has a totally irrational hatred of redheads based on the science fact that 'they smell funny'. Whilst I do not agree on this point I am not sure if I could trust someone with red hair.

My mum has a hatred for me in green, when I was about 5 she said I couldn't have a green dress like she was making for my friend as it doesn't suit me. I have never ever worn green since.

Emma, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Calvinism. My (Spanish) father finds it disgusting and sort of funny too. I definitely inherited it. Of course it is a rational hatred because it is the most disgusting philosophy of life ever. Always funny though if you meet a Spaniard living in Holland, within 5 minutes he/she will say something like "...calvinistic fools....blabla...".

Omar, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My grandmother is a calvinst. Hardest Bitch i have ever known. Make coal diamonds by looking at them.

anthony, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hatred of The Yankees from my dad. Red Sox forever!! We'll win one day. Seriously. :)

Joe, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My dad has an obsession with redheads. Or girls with extremely dark hair. He probably likes Nelly Furtado.

My mom hates me in green also, and I also refuse to wear it.

Ally, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Emma's dad is right. Ginger nuts DO smell funny. I never noticed before. This thread is not as interesting as it could be. What it was really crying out for was someone just to go "Pakis" or "Poofs" and then when questioned on it say: "It's irrational!"

Greg, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Greg, I wish you had done that.

Nick, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Can't you see that my post was just a thinly veiled way of saying "I'm that person but I don't have the guts to do it"? Anyway, here's my irrational hatred: eskimos. Fucking stupid furry coat-wearing, meat- eating wankers.

Greg, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And they have 10,000,000,000 words for snow!

Ally, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I said, with a Lead- Filled With a lead filled snowshoe He said, "Peekaboo" I said, with a Lead- Filled With a lead filled snowshoe He said, "Peekaboo" He went right upside the head of my favorite baby seal he went "whap" with a lead-filled snowshoe, and he hit him on the nose and hit him on the fin, and he that got me just about as evil as an eskimo boy can be. So I bent down and I reached down, and I scooped down and I gathered up a generous mitten-ful of the deadly YELLOW SNOW

The deadly yellow snow, from right there where the huskies go!

Whereupon I proceeded to take that mittenful of the deadly yellow snow crystals and rub it all into his beady little eyes with a vigorous circular motion hitherto unknown to the people of this area, but destined to take the place of the mudshark in your mythology here it goes, the circular motion, now Rub It!

(that's right, you asked for it!)

Tadeusz Suchodolski, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

DG, DG: I urgently invoke the ILE emergency measure instantly-delete-all-posts quoting Zappa lyriXoR!

It's not censorship, it's just plain common sense — Tipper Gore

mark s, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Zappa is the price we have to pay for freedom of speech, sigh...

Andrew L, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was hanging with some Goths last Sunday, in a seriously hungover state. Despite them having drinking straws through their ears it wasn't until they started talking about yellow snow that I knew I had to get out of there. I didn't know why though, it just felt wrong. Now I realise they were receiting Zappa lyrics and it all makes sense.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yep, sorry Mark, as a wise man once said, eternal vigilance against Zappa lyrics0r are the price of freedom. You can always track the offending poster down and give them a CHINESE BURN.

DG, Thursday, 23 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Th red sox wil never win a world series again.

Penn State

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 11:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The English. Oh, and Americans, too.

Though I'm not sure either of those hatreds are irrational.

KATE, Wednesday, 5 March 2003 11:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I have inherited from my mother a deep mistrust of and distatse for women with chipped nail varnish.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 11:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Peanut Butter.

(Red heads do not smell funny)

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 13:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Anyway, there would be nothing irrational in disliking redheads if they did smell funny (which of course Anna, by definition, disproves).

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 14:05 (twenty-three years ago)

religion

chris (chris), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 14:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 23:44 (twenty-three years ago)

hatred of myself from my mother and hatred of the entire outside world from my father.

although i've yet to be convinced that either of these are irrational.

Wyndham Earl, Thursday, 6 March 2003 01:32 (twenty-three years ago)

fun(?)

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 6 March 2003 01:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Green. I always thought this was odd, but it seems to be a running theme in this thread. My Dad says it's unlucky. I won't wear it. I do have a jumper which people say is green, but I've successfully convinced myself that it's brown.

celeste (Celeste), Thursday, 6 March 2003 02:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Unrefrigerated bread and asking Nigerians for directions.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 6 March 2003 07:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Ha ha unrefrigerated bread, me too!

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 6 March 2003 08:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Who the hell refrigerates bread? Just keep it in the freezer and thaw it out when you plan to eat it.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 6 March 2003 08:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Religion, CB radios, and Mr Frosty machines.

stephen. s (yaye), Thursday, 6 March 2003 18:01 (twenty-three years ago)

JBR = OTM. What's with you cold bread fridge freaks?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 6 March 2003 18:13 (twenty-three years ago)

My mum keeps bread in the fridge too. I used to, but I was teased without mercy when I first moved out of home. My flatmates also complained that bread was taking up too much room in a fridge shared between four.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 6 March 2003 18:16 (twenty-three years ago)

I leave bread out on the counter unless I know it's not gonna be eaten w/in a week...then it goes in the FRIDGE dammit. Why the hell would I want to eat bread that's been frozen?

oops (Oops), Thursday, 6 March 2003 18:18 (twenty-three years ago)

in my house there is never fresh bread, my mum buys loads and puts it in the freezer and then defrosts. I don't think it tastes the same but she tells me it does. I don't like the way it rips more easily when I attempt to butter it either. I will not be inheriting this habit.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 6 March 2003 18:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I have to agree with oops here.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 6 March 2003 18:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I have to watch myself not to inherit my father's general dislike of anything Japanese (except cars oddly)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 6 March 2003 18:25 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't think it tastes the same but she tells me it does.

LOL! Classic Mom-ness

oops (Oops), Thursday, 6 March 2003 18:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, timewarp back to being 7, "YOU'LL EAT AND YOU'LL LIKE IT RONAN" (please Dan, no)

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 6 March 2003 18:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, the bread that isn't in the frig goes in the freezer. Who else kept snack foods in the oven?

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 6 March 2003 21:09 (twenty-three years ago)

we get fresh bread in our house, keep it in its bag without exposing it directly to air, and usually finish it off within 24 hours.

as for the original question, the answer is suburbanization, but now that i am relatively edumacated, i think i can compose more rational critiques.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Thursday, 6 March 2003 21:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Inherited from my mother: hatred of my father.
Inherited from my father: hatred of my mother.

(Only Kidding.)
