I think I might have got the title slightly wrong. Anyway, I loved that movie and wondered whether anyone had seen it.

It's a fairly low budget (I think) Indian film about a father and son who are estranged, and a mother and daughter who are estranged. The father falls for the (unrelated, obviously) daughter and the son falls for the mother. The son and the mother are musicians.

There's lots of really great scenes, like when the mother ties the son to the door with string while she's away, to test his devotion, and the husband who abandoned her turns up and tries to follow her but the son blocks him and then just at the moment when the husband gets to see her he just stands there for ages and then it turns out he's sick and dying and can't speak. Also a good scene is when the love affairs are revealed, and the father keeps maliciously pressing the point 'so that means your wife is also your daughter. And my daughter is my wife,' for way longer than you'd think necessary.

Does anyone know any other good movies like this? This was really really good, I'm not being sarcastic.

one year passes...
Yr thinking of "Ek Nai Paheli"--so says IMDB. It sounds a bit like a Rohmer movie, though i imagined it's played broadly instead of the maniacal understatement of Rohmer. Is it a Bollywood film or

Anyway I learned to appreciate the broad melodrama of Bollywood this year, thanks to heavy injections of same at the Pompidou's "Vous avez dit 'Bollywood'?" series.

I will look for this one on video.
