and was it all that?

(i like the bit where the hero throws his g/f over the back to the wolves so he can escape)

I have a few times. But the only one I remember well I rode during the summer, not xmastime. It was lovely. I was up very very high and everyone waved at me as we passed them.

But wait- does a sleigh have to slide on ice? Can it have wheels? Cuz this had wheels... I guess I just rode in a horse & carriage...

i think a sleigh has to have sledging capacity, but sarah if you threw yr g/f to the wolves off an ordinary horse and carriage i salute u

(ps in the footnotes to kim it says that a "DOGCART" is a small one-horse carriage w.a special compartment to convey yr dog but my maw and paw have a wee wooden contraption which a dog cd be harnessed to, which a child cd ride in - and toss g/f over the back possibly to some badgers or voles)

Mark, the girlfriend fighting wolves/badgers/voles makes this the BEST THREAD EVER.

What a small world it is, mark s. In younger days, my school's sports teams were known as the Fighting Voles.

That must have terrified the opposition!

I rode in a sleigh when I was about 6 or 7 years old - it was at my Grandpa's farm in Northern Michigan. I remember it being fun, and full of jingle bell strings.

Do you remember any Vole fighting though?

smee (smee), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I have ridden in a one-horse open sleigh, and oh-what-fun it was. The sleigh had wheels which the driver could retract when we hit actual snow. The ride was mostly level, which is good, as the poor beastie really didn't like pulling us over any kind of incline.

I rode in a one-horse open sleigh while on a ski-ing holiday in Bulgaria. I am so middle-class it hertz. But had no girlfriend to throw to the Eastern European lions, tigers, bears, alas.

Occupational hazard if you are Minnesotan really. We used to be taken to one of those restored pioneer farm tourist trap places as kids, and made to ride in the sleigh. Since I wasn't allowed to ride, loved it because of whole Close Proximity To Horses thing.

Who here owns a vole farm?

Gordon (Gordon), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 11:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I have an extremely eager mole digging flipping great holes/leaving great piles of earth all over my lawn. Does that count?
