Taking Sides: Netscape / Internet Explorer

Regardless of the evils of Microsoft, I've always sided with IE, for the simple fact that websites (mine included) looked BETTER in IE than in that persnickety Netscape. However, I have just learned that the latest version of IE doesn't support most Netscape-spec plugins - including QuickTime!!! Given that (and seeing yet another clip of that Microsoft exec going apeshit), I've downloaded Netscape 6.1 and giving Bill the high hat. (Granted, I'm typing this message in IE - old habits die hard.) So, hey now - what do you say? Anyone out there not using one of these two - how's about Mosaic??? I know Josh uses Lynx when browsing the web on his souped-up Commodore 64.

(I got the IE information from here. Page down a bit.)

Netscape for me, if only because it and its semi-predecessor Mosaic were the first browsers I used. Remember Mozilla? ;-) IE I've had too many problems with over the years, others' mileage may vary.

I use Opera. IE is IE and Netscape doesn't work.

I have IE cos it comes with the computer and I'm just way too lazy to go do anything about that.

Until last month, it was Netscape all the way. The tech here, who was also a Netscape fan last I remembered, gave a funny look when I complained of browser crashes and stuff in Netscape. He said, "Why are you using Netscape? Explorer 6 is way better." I slowly started using it and now I actually prefer it. It loads quicker and is less buggy. But, I hate the WICKED BIG FONT DISPLAY that it defaults to. I'm sure have the retards out there are viewing every page with huge text and that's fine with them. Duh.

Don't you hate it when you type o a different WORD altogether and it makes you look like you just can't spell? Especially when you're complaining about people being retarded? For your info, I meant "half" not "have" in that last line.

Netscape 6 is way buggy, but I've had even more problems with IE.

Is/was Mozilla a giant mutant Morrissey that fights with Godzilla and King Kong?

Netscape 4.5 for me. 6 takes too long to load and has been polluted by AOL. Explorer keeps trying to finish my URLs with Microsoft addresses. I'm convinced it's forwarding my grocery lists to Steve Ballmer.

There has been a patch released so that IE 5.5 SP2 can use Quicktime. Still won't be able to use other plug ins though as far as I know.

As Nick mentioned Netscape is now connected to the AOL Time Warner empire, so using for reasons of MS hatred seem rather hollow.

I've mostly used IE and had few problems. Until recently when I can't view Real or Quicktime content and thats with SP1!
