What do you think of this short story?

It's 17 pages in MS Word, so I won't expect much action here.

A word to the wise: make a simple ASCII version available and you may get more comments.

MS Word documents are hugely (and needlessly) bloated and MS does everything in its power to ensure that, if I use anything but MS Word to open it, I am screwed. Sorry to turn this thread into yet another anti-MS diatribe. These are simply the reasons why I won't read your short story or offer comments.

Also, you can put virussy code in the macros that Word will run, meaning people are understandably cautious about .docs.

b-but the linked file is .html! I think that Leee only meant to give a rough estimate of size -- i.e. "if i were to format this properly as a word document it would be 17pp"

I was just following Aimless's comment - I don't have time for 17 pages of story today, so haven't visited it. Sorry for any foolishness and confusion!

I'm also sorry for the confusion. It appeared I was being offered a link to geocities, at the end of which was an opportunity to d/l Word doc. That's how I read it. I was wrong. My apologies.

Those who wish to may read the story by clinking the link.

A revised draft, 5400 words. Be kind.
