dating one's instructors: classic or dud?

No, I'm not doing it myself. But I'm wondering exactly how common it is, given a couple of recent conversations. Who here has gotten involved with your teacher (use a pseudonym if you want)? Was it before or after you got your grade in the relevant class? C/D? (And if you haven't, do you personally know people who have?)

in high school my science teacher and one of my classmates 'got together'. he was in his late 30s, she was 16. they moved in together as soon as she left school. i have no idea what happened to them after that, as it was about 20 years ago and i lost contact with friends in that town.
it was a major scandal though at the time, small town etc.

My cousin lives in Glasgow, with one of her uni profs.

One of my high school classmates (she) married my senior-year Journalism teacher (he) - this happened a couple years after we graduated, though, and he was just out of college at the time of our graduation, so it's not THAT shocking - only about 7-8 years' difference in age, if not smaller. And I don't think he taught her, so grades were never an issue. In fact, the biggest hubbaballoo over this union (aside from my HS friends & I remembering the month/year/s when we all crushed on her haaaaaaaaaaard - ah, yes) came from a friend who's never met either he or she - every time the scenario gets mentioned (during those wistful bouts w/ nostalgia), he starts singing Van Halen and laughs his ass off. Puerile & dopey, sure, but I don't mind much - I get to do the "I got my pencil" bit.

For the record - jokes about grades being docked because of poor performance in bed, or rulers = not funny. Jokes about lack of task commitment or participation or short attention spans = mildly funny, depending on phrasing. (Heh - span.)

Daver: I don't get why "Jump" has anything to do with that scenario.

A girl I knew in college got given academic credit in exchange for a year-long affair. However, the girl was also known for sex hitch-hiking and was totally fucked up, obv.

I've pashed a teacher or two but nothing more. I don't think it's a big deal at all as it's not as if anyone respects or looks up to their teachers in any special way, unlike doctors and vets and psychologists and gurus, and it's not as if good grades aren't bribed in hundreds of other ways too. Maybe teachers were once respected but I think most people now just see them as failed professionals. Student-teacher attraction is more about availablity and ease of seduction than transference, I would have thought.

All of my male instructors have either been really irritating in one respect or another or gay so I never even entertained the idea.
