like one of them was the witch-king of angmar? but what did the others do, and where are they from and do they have names?

In the Unfinished Tales, there's a mention of one of them being "Khamul the Black Easterling" or something like that, I'll have to check. Beyond that, I don't know if there were specific associations ever made -- didn't stop ICE from making an elaborate backstory for their role-playing games (though one of their conclusions -- that the chief Nazgul was originally a Numenorean prince of the royal household -- was suitably inventive).

yeah didn't the silmarillion or one of its attendant stories (um which i have JUST READ. sorry) say that three or four of them were kings of Numenor OF THE LINE OF ELROS or something? i shall check - it was a throwaway line i think. that sauron = a ROTTAH.
